Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

I've said it before in this thread, but I'll say it again. This type of thinking: > Oh, so you want to be a car-dependent exurb? Then we're going to take away your rail service! Take that! is just bad game theory.

MGH Ragon Building | 55 Fruit Street | West End

Guys, we don't care who's right. We don't come here to read arguments. Take five, please. Anyway, 2024.12.22 peeking over MGH from the train at Science Park, on my way to the Amtrak to see my family for the holidays. Sorry for the terrible quality.

1690-1700 Hyde Park Avenue | Hyde Park

Yeah. Also spaces for musicians and artists. Newmarket seems to be filling this need in a big way. Are there cities where this sort of light industry extists under or next to housing? Does it all have to squirreled away in the margins of the city? I get that noise is an issue, but I know plenty...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Yeah, these guys have been at Ball Sq from time to time. Every time, I walk by them, they ask something like "do you know how to validate your fare with your Charlie Card?", I respond "I'm paying on the train with my credit card", they say "OK, make sure you do that" and I say "Yup." No big...

Yup, having talked to some of the Lyndell's staff, they say the same. The development will also consume the bakery's current parking lot.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Potentially obnoxiously optimistic, but it's possible that the threat of federal funding disappearing is exactly what states like MA need in order to implement serious, long-term sustainable, state-level transit funding measures like congestion tolling, such that when federal funds eventually do...

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Yorkville in Manhattan has all of those beat with a density north of 150k per square mile. It looks to me like it started with the urban fabric of the South End (5 story rowhouses on small, narrow lots in a tight street grid), and while many of those mid rises are still there, it's grown up with...

You don't sound nearly as smart or funny as you think you do. Look, if we all just left snarky angry comments on every other thread, this site would be a cesspit. If you have somthing interesting to say about a project, say it, but otherwise please chill out, or maybe direct your attitude at...

Eh, the lack of good overhead shelter and accessibility on so many of those is unacceptable. Otherwise, agreed. The GLX stations are fine. The worst thing about outdoor stations is waiting in the elements. If reducing the capital and maintenance costs of stations means that more money is...

    Site Issues

I wouldn't necessarily assume they are making any profit after hosting costs. Personally I would rather throw some money at an annual aB gofundme than look at ads, but maybe that's just me.

Red Line Extension to Arlington Heights

My head might explode too. Wouldn't an el be more expensive than a cut-and-cover, while also destroying the trail's value as a nice, green linear park?

Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

As much as I want to see the state come down hard on them, I don't think cutting T service would be productive. "Oh, so you want to be a car-dependent exurb? Then we're going to take away your rail service! Take that!"

Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

I would not ask them to remain silent, but in voicing their opinions, I would ask them to consider that many of the beneficiaries of the new zoning law are literally not invited to the meeting because... They would love to be a contributing member of the town, but they can't afford to live...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

They could put luggage racks on a predictable subset of the cars, e.g. the first two, and then direct passengers to "Walk this way (towards the front of the platform) for luggage racks". EDIT: Or maybe middle two cars would make more sense so that the direction of the trains didn't matter.
