4 years, christ.

Given it is November 5, 2024, technically could be 3 yrs and 2 months. This is a great and forward thinking change - -I hope it's for hundreds and hundreds of units.

From the link:
".....The process is still early, with no set timeline for construction, although Flynn said active construction “certainly won’t be within the next 12 months, but we all hope it’s also not five years from now.” Construction would have an 18- to 24-month timeline, putting a possible opening in 2028.
The project isn’t starting overly entirely, though, as much of the work Scape did toward designing ground-floor retail was liked by residents and developers and can be adapted for the upcoming project, Flynn said.......'

Plans Under Review for 28 Unit Mixed-Use Project in Somerville

“Plans are now under review for a mixed-use project at 720 Broadway in Somerville. The site is presently a one-story commercial building, home to Lyndell's Bakery, a landmark for Ball Square and Somerville for 135 years. The proposed development would add three (3) stories to the structure and twenty-eight (28) residential units and include a new state-of-the-art facility for the bakery.”

Looks like they will also be demolishing the house next door (see below, on the right) as the render shows just one house between the development and the Mary Flynn Murphy Dance Studio vs the two that are there now..

Yup, having talked to some of the Lyndell's staff, they say the same. The development will also consume the bakery's current parking lot.

30+ Unit Project Proposed in Somerville

“A 4-story multifamily development has been proposed at 9-15 Taylor Street in Somerville. The project would include 34 apartments with 20 parking spaces on-site, as well as 4 on-street parking spaces. The Weston-based developer acquired the site in 2021 for $1,050,000 and has since cleared the site.”

I like that residential proposals are back! I still wish that the Mystic Ave corridor was full of 10-12 story residential towers and such. Block the highway noise!
