You all realize we're using someone else's resources (CASH), with every post, right? Domain hosting is not free.

    archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

Jusin7 is wrong. But I agree that moving the database to another platform is trivial. Justin7, I think incorrectly, assumes that the community is the database. It is not. I'm an older, and have been thru all the battles. Don't post to any site, including archboston.org, if you have...

    archBOSTON Update: A New Dawn

I’m new here relative to most, and more a lurker than a participant. I am, however, an architectural and transit enthusiast, read new posts daily, and greatly regard the participation and depth of knowledge of everyone here. It’s my opinion that most of the concerns about this issue assume...

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

Well, the "Bar Access" shown is by itself illegal, unless they mean that will be an new ungated entry into the bar, which defeats the purpose given it has two exits in the gated area. The booze is behind a fence currently for a reason (see pouring license). And then try to convince CR users...

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

The bathrooms at North Station are outside of what is shown as the gated area in the renderings. Also, food and beverage vendors within the gated area get lots of foot traffic by non-CR riders before events at the Garden. It won't be laid out as currently shown.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

I just noticed what seems like the large distance between the O’Neil building and the hotel side of the Hub; about 15 steps, so 30 feet or more. What’s going there? There’s not nearly that much between O’Neil and Avalon.

The Alcott (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End

Re: Longfellow Place (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End Given the proximity to BS&G, you wouldn’t think that would be necessary or economical.

Re: Longfellow Place (née Garden Garage Towers) | 35 Lomasney Way | West End What’s the white, upright tank in the middle of the photo?

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

A round trip ticket on a BA A380 to Heathrow will cost you roughly somewhere between $500 and $5000. A round trip ticket to Alewife will cost you $4.50. Comparing airlines investments versus MBTA investments makes no sense. They are completely different markets providing completely...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

I know the last car is the quiet car, but I missed the one that had lie down suites and 30 channels of entertainment.

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

Forget the skyline. This thing looks like five separate buildings from Causeway. Hate it if you must, but to me it, from the street, it adds variety and depth. Call it Disney, but the two wings of the hotel seem like different buildings from street level it’s very interesting to look at...

The Hub on Causeway (née TD Garden Towers) | 80 Causeway Street | West End

^ That McDonalds was closed a couple of years ago, which was a good/bad situation for me. There’s been nothing there since. Also, heard they’re using the new high speed escalators for the T tunnel access, twice the speed and half as much space required.

Education First (Phase III) | 10 North Point Blvd | Cambridge

It’s a dorm, with a gym and some office space. I struggle understanding the residential programming given the facade.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Completely uneducated comment here. I like the last hybrid proposal the best because it impacts the river the least and has more greenspace. Who cares if it’s ugly from the BU side. That said, why not a wall and landscaped berm on the path side close to the river? Further isolates vehicles...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport ^This Anecdotally (FWIW), I am friendly with two couples who are now in Beacon Hill, two in the Back Back Bay, three in the Seaport, and three more singles relatively recently divorced that are also in the Seaport. Going In-Town is the new over 55...

Condo Development | 33-61 Temple Street | Beacon Hill

Replying to an old post, but I just found this thread. They’ve gutted the interiors of both buildings to the structure, and also removed the exterior envelope of the newer/uglier one altogether. I tried to get a closer look inside the older one on the corner of Derne, and it looks like they’re...

Harbor Garage Redevelopment Pontificating | Waterfront

FWIW, there’s nothing under, or in proximity underground to that parcel which would prevent development of more height on top of the existing structure, or a tower like what is being discussed. Most of those problems were solved close to the Greenway as part of the Big Dig.

Harbor Garage Redevelopment Pontificating | Waterfront

It's not accurate. The tunnel walls were originally the support for the elevated roadway during construction. They installed a wider set of columns on top of them with beams in between. The walls align pretty much with outside lanes of Atlantic Avenue in that area.
