    Green Line Reconfiguration

That was the plan for the Post Office Sq extension too. You can see the elevation chart at the bottom, it would pass below Boylston and Chinatown, but above the RL tunnels. Which is why I'm asking if maybe the difficulty of SL Phase 3 has been overstated, if the plan was to do something very...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

Here's the plate, for the Post Office Sq extension: And it looks a lot like Silver Line Phase 3. Which then makes me wonder: Has the difficulty of that potentially been overstated by this board? Did the cost overruns and challenges come more from mismanagement than actual technical difficulty...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

maybe? It wouldn't need to dive under Boylston station though so maybe not, I'm not sure. I'm also not sure if the plan was designed with the Washington St Subway in mind or not. More to come later whenever I have time to read a novel lol.

    Green Line Reconfiguration

More thoughts later, but what about revisiting some of the early 1900s planning done about an extension to Post Office Square from Arlington? The interchange at Boylston would be a bit challenging but maybe there's something there. As for the South Station connection, somewhere probably in this...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

That's their point, I think. Or emergency services could use the bus lane, either one works. Is this a huge advantage that justifies putting spare lanes on every street? Probably not. Could it justify a corridor downtown though? Possibly.

New meeting for the Hi-rail tunnel, I wonder if they'll change their tune on tenting/venting or not. https://www.mbta.com/events/2025-03-18/public-meeting-red-line-hi-rail-access-tunnel-project-virtual

Why did we stop building through-streets?

Developing more woodland with the same SFHs doesn't really densify anything, it just expands it. There are in fact ways to increase density without sprawling out more. Those giant mansions could be split into two connected homes, for example. Build some new condo buildings with a handful of...

    Fantasy T maps

Any station at Waltham Center would need to be bi-level, with the Aqua Line platforms underground. This would be one of the most, if not the most, expensive parts per distance, with Watertown Sq close behind. Oak Grove isn't built to serve the fells, and Forest Hills isn't built to serve the...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Not the first mistake to make if onto the schedules, and probably not the last.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

This is more applicable to the Waltham/Burlington area where the office parks are most heavily concentrated, but what about some kind of busway, similar to the Metrobus in Istanbul? Running in the highway median, you could have some key stations at denser areas, and then move off the highway for...

    Fantasy T maps

The length and lack of people making the full trip given the availability of the Fairmount Line as an alternative make running the line all the way to Mattapan not an appealing option from an operations perspective. However, running it to Franklin Park would make sense as that area is not very...

Why did we stop building through-streets?

Ah Cape Coral, objectively the silliest city in the US.

Why did we stop building through-streets?

Hot-take, no. We don't need to, and I would argue shouldn't, keep sprawling out when we have so much cleared but lightly developed land around.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

What about Readville? There's the stadium at Dedham HS to get around or under, but apart from that there's a clear ROW along VFW Parkway and then following the old railway alignment, which is mostly free from encroachment here. You could then continue to Routet 128/University Park if desired.

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

The viaduct is not the problem, electrification is. I would frankly consider the viaduct to be a good idea, swamps are valuable for the local ecosystem and for water storage, not to mention being prone to flooding by their very nature. Building the line higher up seems like a wise choice.

    4. Operators not putting in as many hours as they used to. My understanding is that pre-COVID bus drivers were doing crazy amounts of overtime.

    The Official MBTA System Map

That is the plan. And you're right, dropping the stop would seem reasonable at that point, but the Remix map actually shows the Congress St stop but not the actual WTC station on SL1/3, which makes absolutely zero sense. So until any further information is released, I'm going with the stopping...

    The Official MBTA System Map

BNRD, don't forget. SLW is getting removed from the SL1/3 in both directions, this map aims to show that. If you want to show the current routing the design is the same but with SLW on the trunk, like the current map. Congress St is actually the busiest inbound stop in Seaport by alightments.

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

"We will be re-filing at a later time" sounds more like they're going to adjust and rework some parts of the proposal, not scrap it.

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

As long as it runs at-grade for any significant portion, probably not. Never say never but that doesn't sound like it would be worth the complexity of trying to custom-build a system to do that, plus rebuild the signal network.
