    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Would an extended 96 to Malden center compliment this? It never made sense to me why the 101 and 96 didn't cover the same space through Medford center to Malden center (via Salem and Pleasant). The 101 is nearly the only bus serving Malden Center from the west (the 108 goes a few blocks, then...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

F-Line, No, of course it doesn't happen by fiat, or else we wouldn't have discussions about what is or is not going to happen. There would be no process and we would be told. At the same time, they got rid of the entire trolley network and took away a city's worth of one seat rides to park...

    Green Line Reconfiguration

I don't know that this solidifies the need to keep St Paul. If you nixed Hawes and St. Paul but kept Kent, how would the walksheds be drastically altered compared to the new Medford branch (considering it's sandwiched between Spring and Winter Hills)? Riders go where it is easiest and an...

What to Do with Abandoned Churches

Right in Cambridge, Lesley University converted the civil war era church into the John and Carol Moriarty library that's pretty beautiful. They even restored the original dome. Granted they also moved the church down the street as some of you may remember.

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Is that Marty McFly circa 2015 via 1985 in the Fall River Depot render? He's even got the almanac.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

To follow up on this, would provisioning for a future split be practical? Say Everett got an elevated line or MOAR TUNNEL, is there space in the ROW to make the jump because of the strand?

Abandoned railroads and rights of way

You two are talking about different ROWs though. West, you appear to be talking about the parcel off of Oakland Street just north of Chestnut Street with one firmly hugging that small body of water? (Map 51, 48 Oakland Street, Charles River Railroad) F-Line, I think, is talking about the...

Abandoned railroads and rights of way

The map is from 1849, so would predate the actual line. If you follow the terrain line, it ends in a road called "Medway Branch" where the Norfolk Highway Department is now located. So I would agree with all above that the Electrical Row houses the former branch from about just east of the...

    Electric Transmission: Woburn to Mystic

What is the start date here? The construction page on Eversource is 2017 and 2019. Kind of an incredible time to be working on Mystic while all the bridges are out. On one hand, get it all done at once so that disruption eels like it just ends, but on the other, that will be a crazy 5 days.

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

I mean you have a point for AM peak. Winship St is pretty much approximate. Newton Corner is closer to Weston. But the PM reverse there's not even a comparison. Here's Boston's own proposal for BRT in the CBD. A NSRL or another subway line could replace it eventually, but that's not soon on...

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

Bus lines that run from Brighton Center/Watertown Square to downtown are approximately equidistant to Albany St and Weston (on the Pike). However, one of those is the (near) terminus for the bus routes while the other is entirely non-revenue generating. I could see you arguing for Watertown...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Consolidation of the MBTA and the RTAs into one organization with streamlined payment options and commuter rail passes or even link passes serving as a monthly bus pass statewide to promote reverse commutes and last mile connections instead of focusing all resources on parking expansion at...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Here's a couple of questions: -Could they further build out Park further southwest as they did in 1914 and remove the current loop area for rebuilding to make a bigger loop/streamlining? -Could Tremont handle quad track to Government Center to Park? All in all, does Park need to be the short...

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Here's a wild idea, instead of a Storrow subway we dream up the following: -Blue crosses the Charles, goes to Kendall, up Broadway, splits at Hampshire St, turns at Cambridge @ Inman, Goes all the way to Harvard where it has a stop under the Harvard Bus tunnel at Flagstaff park, overtakes the...

Mmmm... Pizza (Discuss Your Favorite Slice)

Some people up here call it "New London Style" and there are a pair of named pizzerias in Concord and Acton that specialize in it. I rarely eat pizza in Boston because it isn't like CT Greek style.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Because then we circle back to the congestion zone argument: What would we do with low-income auto users who don't have a choice? A different approach could be to phase down all passes in the zone over time. Older cars are grandfathered in but new cars are limited to one per household or unit...

    AB Google Earth Guessing Game

That's a fair shake. It does not benefit anyone to demonize their neighbors for such things. The flip on that, however, is that Brooks Park is both in the future College Ave Walkshed and has 2 +1 bus lines (a round-about walk to the 95) and is also very close to the on ramp for 93 in the most...

    AB Google Earth Guessing Game

No, of course I do not know "in fact". I knew who rode the bus because over years, you would see the riders and where they went. Just as they saw me go into my home. Have you never noticed the regular commuters around you?
