Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

https://www.bostonherald.com/wp-content/uploads/2024/06/Moulton-Rail-Link-Overview-Slides-2024-06-14.pdf I think I found the same slides as you. Not much here besides an alignment endorsement but I am not super familiar with eg. if the "advocates" long settled on the artery alignment. I know...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

You may like reading Transit Matters' reports on the subject, they do line-by-line regional rail analyses. I think some of the users here consider their predictions for what's possible with relation to speeds and scheduling to be unrealistic, but they do a pretty good job of showing for example...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Saw a uniformed “MBTA Inspector” gentleman today. Is this some position other than the new fare inspectors we are assuming start soon?

Assembly Square Infill and Small Developments | Somerville

Thanks for pointing that one out, I read it. Of course the solution it suggests is that if only developers were more diverse then things would be better. Not sure why they would charge less money for rent depending on their race. But hey its the Globe.

Was curious so i looked up a couple pieces of the project: 195 feet high

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

It would be a stretch but Mass could pay for the T on its own. Just a matter of making a serious commitment to it

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Yeah my hobby horses on this forum are mostly borne out of urban fails that I deal with regularly. It’s a weird spot because it’s like, a 1/4 mile at least from the “square” until you go far enough into CX for there to be businesses, there’s no businesses on first street really, the museum of...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

There's definitely businesses who would happily take it over and take a lump sum to make up for the lack of profit each year. And when the money isn't enough to operate the system? They'll just ask for more consultants, more money, or threaten to shut down lines. Paying someone to own our...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

It just feels dark and dingy in there. This is going to be a bright and open space with light colored accents. Not sure what could be done to fix that.

Commonwealth Pier Revitalization (née Seaport WTC)| 200 Seaport Boulevard | Seaport

All the new MBTA stations have the Y roof design and my answer is no, I wonder if the idea is either A) it lets you make the middle a gutter and keeps water from dripping onto the walkway or B) so that it rains on homeless people trying to sleep there. Cause in my experience rain + typical...

    🔹 What's Happening With Project X?

I wanted to ask about these three parcels on cambridge street. They both had buildings demolished in the last five years with nothing to replace them. Anyone have info on what happened? Editing as I figure it out: Image 1: Apparently used as construction staging for millers river apartments...

    Bowker Overpass replacement?

But on the map it was greyed out! So I can only assume the cars and bridge will be built at 50% opacity, so you just see a bridge-like cloud as you walk down the neatly appointed pedestrian path.

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

Easiest way to get a project built was to ask engineers from 100 years ago to do it at the costs of the time lol... Read wikipedia and it was like "In 1909, it was decided that a four mile subway would be built. The plans were drawn up and it was dug over the course of two years by several local...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

It's a great design and befitting of what we deserve out of a train station. My only complaint is that the rest of the station interior is gonna be left behind in terms of niceness!

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Need a ped bike bridge from CX to the jail so we can skip all that. The Parklet by the jail is so nice and so is the CX park with the random office building in the middle. Connect them and the real city can leave the highway behind

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

This is a great visualization. Honestly the building with the driveway should be redeveloped, it's ugly and seems to have given up on interacting with its environment. A crappy glass paneled 5 over 1 with no parking would be better than what we have now. Not positive it is even in use besides as...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Not sure but Cambridge St does "end" as a one way slip lane onto the O'Brien highway. They changed the layout so you have to use the new First Street Extension to turn left from O'Brien onto Cambridge St.

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Very fair comment. But my gripe is specifically the brand new connector where the t stop used to be.

Sent my usual grouchy email. Turns out it’s not the CRA at least according to this person

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

Re Except the pedestrian access to lechmere is miserable. And there’s zero businesses in the “square” besides a bank chain. And the dirt lot on the right of the image is slated for a future development. Not to mention the tall buildings in CX across the street. The whole thing is an urban fail...
