    Dana-Farber Cancer Center | 1 Joslin Place | Longwood

That's a great point about the volume of people in this area. I don't think additional gerbil tubes here would make the street level any less vibrant or chaotic. For one, the bulk of the traffic is people coming in from out of town for care, and second, most of the lunch places, etc., still...

Franklin Park - White Stadium Renovation

I love how everyone wears red colored socks in Boston, especially around all those brown bears we see all the time. Anyhow, yes, the name sucks. Why not just call it "Boss FC" or "Boss Town FC" - those would sound awesome. Marketing by committee, and I suspect they're going to find the limits...

    Dana-Farber Cancer Center | 1 Joslin Place | Longwood

Fascinating stuff, Mjolnir! Longwood could be such a model for patient-centered design if they could get all 4 hospitals connected so patients wouldn't need to go outside.

    General Boston Discussion

I attended a screening of Inundation District at the EcoTarium on Sunday night, which was focused on such issues. The conceit was that the developers of the Seaport should be on the hook for any seawall development to protect the neighborhood that they've invested in, but I thought the film did...

Big win for the area. If only they could figure out something with the Aud.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

I think we're finally hitting the point where renders can only do so much to sell you on a building. The primary render for this place is so deep in Uncanny Valley territory that it's impossible to make any judgements on how the building will actually interact with the streetscape, plus they put...

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Almost completely unrecognizable if it wasn't for the Esplanade in the foreground! The big spire to the right must be the Church of the Covenant on Newbury and Berkley, then 31 St. James is visible behind it, with the Park Plaza overlapping to the right. The Ritz-Carlton would be the taller...

Massachusetts Turnpike/I-90 (Current Projects, Conceptual Improvements, & Long Term)

Man I wish that would have existed when I was taking the CR into Boston. It would be closer to where I live in Grafton than Grafton Station itself. I'd want to see a bridge over to 122 to the south, however. The 20/122 interchange can be a bit of a nightmare.

Shreve, Crump & Low Redevelopment | 334-364 Boylston Street | Back Bay

Yeah, this is kind of where I stand. I respect the angst about the loss of the old buildings, but I really dig the aesthetics of this, it hits a nice late-80s/early-90s nostalgia sweet spot for me. I think people who don't know what used to be there will think it's fantastic.

If you designed a metro/subway for Worcester, MA how would it look?

So my gut feeling at looking at these, specifically the light rail, is that while it hits the main landmarks, it also misses vast areas where people actually live. I think a good (idealistic) compromise is 4 lines: Line 1 (Rt. 12 parallel) Mountain QCC Higgins Gold Star/Indian Lake...

Skylines and Developments of the US/World

Now I want an urban BJ's! Maybe with a more limited selection than a full store, but I don't see too many negatives to having bulk quantities of "you need it anyway" stuff like toilet paper available to city residents where they don't need a car.
