i agree. you know other cities that have distinct architecture have very intelligent laws about preservation. like New Orleans requires that anything built in downtown be in the old southern french arcitechtural style; and london just has a flat "if its over 100 yrs old, it can't be demolished"...

here is the artist rendering: the image was taken from the trailer from the new movie "The Surrogate" which takes place in Boston, 2017. They envision a tower like this in the movie (unless this is from a setting in the movie other than boston). But can we imagine this being built?

not only that, they demolished an "old but not historic" (thats how many boston buildings get the wrecking ball, isn't it) building to put that thing up. they could have avoided adding insult to injury if they just saved the facade.

ugh. what a bad building. can we get any more average-looking buildings?
