Alfond Foundation $500 Million gift to multiple Maine entities

Does anyone know if Memorial Gym- The Pitt is getting renovated? I know the capacity is not 3,100 right now. I think that what the capacity would be after renovations for the 2012 reno that did not impact the actual gym. Now cleaning the place up a but should cost around 20-25 million.

    Laconia, NH

The lakes region continues to evolve as now so many summer homes are now year round/retirement homes. Downtown Laconia seems to suffer a bit as it is not on the main strip/Route 3. I prefer Bristol over Laconia for vacation as it does not get as crowded. Newfound Lake is a great place where...

    General Portland Discussion

Hopefully this bus service gets used more than the Hartford fastrak. Talk about a waste of money for a bus route.

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Amazing pics Corey! When a rural state such as Maine draws wealth to the urban areas from other parts of the north east there tends to be resistance for buildings higher than 6 stories. Plus the zoning board/local elected officials wants to make sure no one has a blocked view of Casco...

Infill and Small Developments | Portland

I think the old crones and codgers on the west end care. The less change the better in their eyes.

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

Is Hadlock field worth keeping as a baseball stadium? Have the Seadogs play a season in Old Orchard while they retrofit hadlock and fitzy. Fitzy + Hadlock could be a stadium similar to Providence Park in the other Portland. I am totally spit balling here but there really isnt much available...

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

Yes plus the owner of vape store held up the construction of 409 Elm - Red Oak apartment building. I am happy to see that area changing. I know the city really wants the Gaslight district to be the place to go to in southern NH.

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

I am curious about what will be constructed where the old Michael's hair salon building is located, adjacent to the SNHU arena. I know the property is currently for sale. Hopefully some apartments or mixed development. This is still technically the Gaslight district. Quite a bit a change in...

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

If you were to build even a 25k stadium in Portland it would probably be off the penisula. Where doea the city have 5 acres of undeveloped land? Maybe the midtown site is big enough? Then you also have to worry about the drainage and water levels.Parking becomes a factor. Althouhh we know...

    Bayside Federated Companies

I noticed Patrick started this thread. He probably can give us an update as I read in a midtown article he was working for Federated. But guessing he cant comment unless he has a friend on here, wink wink nudge nudge...just kidding But "Where have you gone Patrick? Bayside needs you!" He was...

89 Elm Street | Port Properties Bayside Phase 1A | Portland

Utilities are not underground? What a shame! I am still waiting the Federated project to take off. Or at least the vacant lot has something put there. Put the new arena there (capacity with ice at 12k) for when the arena opens in 2045 there will be plenty of pedestrian foot traffic.

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

FishingwithFredo you are 100% correct regarding Manchester's reputation. Growing up in Connecticut, most people I knew viewed NH as mostly Nascar dads and lily white soccer moms who are small minded. But once I moved here I realized southern NH is an extension of Massachusetts with the typical...

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

I live right off Elm street, close to the Armory and have owned a home here since 2012. I did not grow up in NH, but I appreciate how business friendly the city is, especially for getting feet on the ground in downtown/Millyard. The city and state are making Manchester a more walkable downtown...

    Westbrook, ME

Let them do the safety dance! Exactly. Many want to build their McMansion and then stop all development which they see as "harming the character of the city/town", but will complain their property tax is too much. Heaven forbid Maine increases their commerce and tax base.

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

The lot across the street from Murphy's Tap room is finally for sale. This is the lot next to the SNHU arena, formally Michael's hair salon. I am hoping this lot will be demolished and some kind of high-rise mixed development will replace it. Glad to see the infill in Manchester replacing one...

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

Is the capacity of Fitzy staying the same? I was hoping for some "end-zone" seating , but the blasted track was too important for the city. Also, I would bet there will be a new stadium down the road if ticket sales are in high demand. Probably not on the peninsula-maybe even in South Portland...

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Nice Pictures! "I will rise again!" - a great motto for Portland, Maine. Portlander- I have a feeling you are giving all "Portlanders" who fear tall buildings anxiety! :) Downtown is starting to look more and more like a true urban core. Let's hope developers have some more high-rise...

    Patriot Place | Foxboro

I know Worcester is too far west for the Krafts to consider....but I think a collaboration with Holy Cross could work. Their football team could benefit as it could be used as their home field as well. Either renovate Fitton Field or build a new conplex on the HC campus. All private money and...
