Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XIX (2025)

Took a walk through the city today - Copley, to the Common, down Charles, over the bridge, down the Cambridge side to the Harvard Bridge, back over to Boylston, the Fens and Longwood. Tried fiddling with some settings on the camera, not a complete success but I did get some fun stuff.

    2025 Boston Mayoral Race

Not living in the city, I have no real skin in this game, but as a BLS alum, I have to rant about this: (from https://joshforboston.com/policy/bps-education-plan/ for citation's sake) Latin (and the other exam schools) are not some magic shortcut to college. They're rigorous education programs...

6 Douglas looks wild to me. Granted, I grew up directly across the street from that, but it feels so un-Southie with the McMansion brickwork. I don't hate it, it's just different. Glad to see the old Bailey's Too site (E. Broadway and L) progressing well. That and the one where Store24 was...

    Cars

Porsche 911 S/T (the best 911 spec) done up as a half-Rexy in the Michelin booth to show the road relevancy. If I ever hit the lottery I now have a target car. The Mustang GT3 car with the road-legal GT3 in the background 35th Anniversary Miata. I'm too tall for these, sadly.

Will always give it up for a Ford GT. Excellent stuff! I realize now I hadn't posted from my 2nd trip to the Rolex 24 at Daytona. Was ice cold but a hell of a good time and a phenomenal motor race. Jack Aitken making sure every inch of track is used...

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Perusing Getty Images and among all the mid-70's chaos for the city is this photo that goes incredibly hard. I'm not really sure who these guys are but it's a hell of a picture: Source...

On The Dot | 505 Dorchester Avenue | South Boston

Whatever is going on with the inner façade behind the windows of the white building is completely unnerving to me.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XIX (2025)

Once again, incredible stuff! You managed to find the perfect angle of the Pru from the Harvard Bridge that completely blocks 111 Huntington. I thought to myself that the skyline looked oddly barren for 2005 in that photo. There's a bit of lost innocence to the Marathon photos, especially the...

    kz's Wanderings Around Greater Boston

I used to work at the Bedford VA (still visit at least annually for my current role), and my old office spaces were along the hallway right at the top of the stairs to the right. Beautiful facility externally, but trying to provide modern healthcare in buildings which, in some cases, were built...

Bay Village Infill and Small Developments

That's approaching Spite House dimensions, though this one is wider at one and not as long. It's not the type of place I (nor more importantly, my wife) would want to live in but I can see the appeal.

EcoTarium - Stoddard Exhibition Hall & Expansion - Worcester

I've been lax in posting updates. The first 2 images are from a few weeks back and the third is from our event last night. The steel is complete and they are now working on getting it closed up. The new bathrooms are also complete on the first level.

Man, I got all excited for a moment. I thought they were hooking the duck boats to a 20 ton sled to see what they can do.

It's utterly amazing how some of those shots look like they could be taken yesterday but others look far older. Fantastic as usual.

That area is nuts and always has been. Went through there all the time as a kid to go see my grandmother at 1000 Southern Artery, and I never really thought about what it must be like to be in the area as a pedestrian because I so rarely saw them. Even though that's pretty much the direct...

Higgins Armory is for sale, again. Apparently it's 80% leased already, I didn't realize it held commercial space within it. https://www.telegram.com/story/news/2025/03/19/higgins-armory-building-worcester-for-sale/82541921007/
