1400 Boylston Street | Star Market & Gulf | Fenway

The style fits in with the rest of Boylston + Brookline, so I don't feel super negative about the design. That said, the amount of parking seems too high, even by the city's own standards. Also, I'm not sure this park adds much value. There's already a ton of green space in the area. This new...

MassDOT Highway, Ramp Closures, Construction Restrictions

There have been periodic nighttime shutdowns of 95-Winter St ramps in Waltham. It looks like they're adjusting the curves a little bit, and possibly widening. This particular shutdown was posted on orange configurable signs for a few weeks in advance, but I can't find any information online...

    Bowker Overpass replacement?

Why do we want Pike ramps so badly here?

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

I appreciate that you're trying to keep things in perspective, but it's not that the market is afraid of growth, it's the local government. It's still beholden to city zoning, no? Also, this thread seems to be veering off-topic. This tangent might be better off in Design A Better Boston.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Absolutely not happening under this administration.

Suffolk Downs Redevelopment | East Boston/Revere

You could regulate that housing prices be low, but you can't regulate those homes into existence. In fact, the former discourages the latter. It's only getting built if the costs can be recouped, which means you either need a lot of it, or you need to pull in high-spending clients.

    The Mason | 85-87 & 111 Boston Street | Everett

Totally agree with the last two comments. This is exactly the sort of new housing development that should be ordinary. It's totally appropriate for the area.

DOT Parcels | 25-28 Kneeland Street | Chinatown

    Thanks, I hate it.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

I honestly would not have noticed that the design changed if a side-by-side hadn't been posted here.

    441 Morgan Ave | Lot U | Cambridge Crossing | Cambridge

It really only looks good from high angles from which nobody will ever see it.

    800 Morrissey Blvd | Dorchester

I'd love nothing more than to live in the middle of 17 parallel lanes of high speed traffic!

    Brunswick Development

This is the most generic 90s suburban apartment complex I've ever seen.

DOT Parcels | 25-28 Kneeland Street | Chinatown

Dawg, the official MassDOT tweet in this thread literally brags about the project including a Diversity And Inclusion Program. You need to chill.

    Waltham Infill and Small Developments

As someone who's in the area frequently, I can tell you that the gates have not been closed any time in the past four years. They're not stopping anybody from driving through. Furthermore, Bear Hill/2nd Ave already serves the purpose as a more-direct 128 alternative.

    Waltham Infill and Small Developments

This 40B cube is ending up even more cube-like than promised: Also LOL at the number of pedestrians in that old rendering. This area is just a passthrough for freight and suburban commuters that use 117.

City Hall Plaza Revamp | Government Center

A bit off-topic, but this photo really shows how ridiculously huge GCG is/was.

Take Back The Streets (...and alleys)

I don't want to get addicted to hopium here, but there's a nice parking lot at 286 Commercial Street and another at Cross/Fulton. I think that the one-way road idea is more realistic in the short-term, but if we want this to be a God Mode thread, we can put a lot of mental energy into dreaming...

Take Back The Streets (...and alleys)

I'm going to divert away from the topic of public meetings to ask a question related to the original topic. People on this board like to ask why Hanover St in the North End can't be pedestrianized. The usual answer is that there's a fire station on that street. I figure that fire trucks really...

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

I have to say I'm not a fan of the thick white border around the shorter wing of the tower. It looks super cheap. The fact that the fins don't go all the way to the top probably contributes as well.
