    Reasonable Transit Pitches

The track 4 would allow Amtrak trains to overtake local traffic before entering the SW Corridor. The New platform at Ruggles removes the opposing crossover at Plains for eastbound trains stopping at Ruggles. The four tracks where I propose them take Westbound Locals off track 1 all the way to...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Mr. F. I was thinking more my track 3 ( which is the existing Needham line station track) running north of the existing platform and track 4 merging to track 2 just east of Forest Hills. It may allow a platform on my proposed track 4, which would be the south track on your track chart. I think...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

Further Adding track no. three between Readville and Forest Hills would make tracks 3 and 4 commuter only while tracks 1 and 2 would be for Amtrak. One could add a station at Clarendon Hills. It would be just like Attleboro.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

I don't get your logic. Adding capacity increases delays? Track 3 Forest Hills to Readville would give Franklin trains flexibility to crossover at Readville or Plains. Needham Trains could hold outside of the station (or Franklintrains could hold. Having track 3 doesn't automatically mean Amtrak...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Mr. F line. Building over the Pike and South Station has been so difficult. Would the idea of an having an authority similar to MassPort charged with building a deck from Back Bay to the Expressway make sense? instead of all the tax giveaways, the Agency could then sell or lease the parcels. The...

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

There is a plan to extend the third track from Readville to Canton Junction. The fourth track from Forest Hills to Readville would help to make Forest Hills a more viable commuter stop.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

Having worked on the RR. I always noted they ran through swamps, but I also thought it was because it was flat. Back when these RR's were laid out the forests had been pretty much clear cut and New England was farmland.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

I'm not sure how much of maintenance costs go towards the tilting mechanism but if it were disabled and that could save a significant amount of money, the sets may be more cost effective.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Building over a railroad tracks is MUCH more expensive than building on open land. That is what held up South Station and the air rights over the Pike. My suggestion of eliminating North Station also eliminates the cost of building over the tracks, and makes the land more valuable .

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

To mitigate costs, why not have Central Station replace North Station? It would free up the station for further development and eliminate the movable bridge over the Charles River.

I-90 Interchange Improvement Project & West Station | Allston

Put the highway in a tunnel and imagine the possibilities at ground level. There are tunnels under bodies of water all over the world. Tunneling near the Charles should not be a problem.

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

And the Lord looked down at the sea of cars, and saw congestion and pollution. And the Lord said "Let there be light, rail! And all the cars became trolleys and interurban light rail was restored.

    Providence East Side Railroad Tunnel

How about a tunnel that bypasses Providence Station entirely? have it between the tangent track in East Providence to the tangent track in Cranston and make the Airport Station the major stop for HSR? HSR trains between Boston and PVD would use the current route. If the commuter system goes...

    Providence East Side Railroad Tunnel

I think you would only look at the East Junction route if you are contemplating 200 MPH service and up and at that point you are probably contemplating a re route west of Providence until you get to the tangent track s at Cranston.

Further, The signal system that MNRR upgraded to is geared towards slower speeds and higher frequencies .

Regional New England Rail (Amtrak & State DOT & NEC)

Full disclosure. I worked the Corridor for 42 years. One of the constraints on MNRR is that it has not been at 4 track capacity for just about all of my years working it. There was a time when MNRR contemplated going to three tracks east of Stamford and downgraded the speeds on track 2 because...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

Mr. F- Line. When I mentioned a gauntlet track through this tunnel (If it helped with clearance) you mentioned the addition of two extra interlocking to accommodate the gauntlet track as an added expense. But, if the line is double-tracked from Readville all the way to Franklin, then two...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

I'm not sure of the dimensions but if Passenger equipment could clear that tunnel with two tracks you could build a gauntlet track through it to give freight trains clearance.
