    In the event of a disabled train or accident how do you quickly evacuate people? Especially disabled riders? I think that is a major disadvantage of these system - the regulatory aspect.

    This is false. We could build our way out if governmental restrictions stopped restricting the construction of housing in densities that we need. This is a problem created by regulation.

    1% of the sales tax goes to fund the MBTA. Excise tax goes to the towns as you note, but the towns in the MBTA area have town contributions.
