Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Great news, looks like BOS is the first LX market in the world to be served by the A350. I just returned from FLR via ZRH and those A333s are tired. Flew out J and back Y and they're still comfortable (particularly in Y because they're not slimline seats), but they feel their age (especially in...

    Providence RIPTA Services

Generally, I agree with the idea that fixed rail transit is better at increasing ridership than any bus service, no matter how it's branded. But as a Providence resident, I don't think this particular LRT alternative would have that effect. It'll be slow running with mixed traffic (potentially...

    MBTA Construction Projects

There's a commuter rail purple stripe on the floor in front of the platforms at South Station that looks to be outlining where the fare gates are going. It says "Tap to Enter" with some graphics of phones and cards or something similar on it. Maybe it's been there for a bit, but it's the first...

Acela & Amtrak NEC (HSR BOS-NYP-WAS and branches only)

Are you positive it was in revenue service and not just testing? If so, that's awesome! I've seen a few of these (as recently as last Thursday) on tracks between Boston and Providence, but I assumed they were test trains.

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

It's about 1/2 a mile away. The ferry and MBTA share the same parking lot (Whales Tooth), and there are free shuttles going back and forth. But it's about a 10 minute walk in practice. Not bad.

    Providence RIPTA Services

As much as I'd love an LRT line or two in Providence, the smart play is for BRT for all of the reasons already mentioned.

    Providence developments

No intel, but it does seem a bit aspirational to me too. A lot of the right buzzwords and "goals," but fairly light on substance.

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

Do you have a link/source for this? Frontier briefly tried PVD back in 2022, but it didn't last long. I'd be kind of surprised if they gave it another shot now considering their own issues combined with Breeze making PVD a hub.

Mt. Washington Resort - Bretton Woods

This was my experience too. My wife and I stayed a few years ago and really felt the experience was a let down considering what it could/should be. The potential is plainly obvious. It's a stunning old structure in a fantastic setting with incredible views. It should be an out of this world...

Infill and Small Developments | Providence

My brother lives over there. Just off of Smith St. in Smith Hill, actually. Things transition pretty fast over there. I think development politics in NW Providence are probably influenced by almost hyper-local conditions and can vary over an area of even a few small blocks because the...

Infill and Small Developments | Providence

I was driving down Douglas Ave. near PC for the first time in a while and noticed a TON of construction on Liege St. behind Yoo Sushi. I only got a quick glance, but there have to be 4-5 new multi-unit residences either just completed or still u/c. Presumably owned by the same student housing...

    The New Retail Thread

There's a good chance you can see this car in the same spot on almost any given week day. I've seen it several times walking by and it was there again today.

    Dyer Wharf | I-195 District | Providence

I walked by this site yesterday for the first time in a while. The small building shown in the rendering (144 Dyer) isn't being demolished. It's this smaller building in front of it (160 Dyer, according to google maps). According to the rendering, it looks like it was always going to come down...

Fenway Corners (Red Sox) | 1 Jersey Street | Fenway

I like the building a lot, actually. And as a straight up swap for the current garage, it's a clear upgrade. I'm generally very excited for most of the upgrades around Fenway/Kenmore (including the air rights, excluding Baseball Tavern location), and this is no exception. That said, am I the...

Old Port Square (née Canal Plaza) | Portland

There are not anywhere near 41 buildings over 250 feet in Basel. But it is fair to point out that it has surprising amount of tall buildings for such a small city. Basel's a nice city and one that I've enjoyed visiting on several occasions. I don't think it has a ton in common with Portland at...
