    "Dirty Old Boston"

Hotel Manger, then Hotel Madison, then Hotel Demolished. Honestly scrolling through this is painful but I stumbled onto one pic and jumped down a quick rabbit hole. https://www.facebook.com/photo/?fbid=10229616605229341&set=gm.1041881408080722&idorvanity=513744017561133...

It also has about 4 times the footprint of the office building. I would argue that is what makes it too big, compared to the height. Gigantic crappy landscrapers do not make good neighbors. They should break up the massing into multiple taller buildings.

New-build classical architecture (evoking old styles)

I agree completely from a materials standpoint. However, this totally crowds out the far superior historical tower next door. While it's contextual and nothing like the abomination proposed for Kansas City (below), beautiful historical towers deserve at least a little bit of air.

I don't know if this totally applies to the point you're trying to make, but Providence has a place called "Rooftop at the Providence G" that is above condos.

It says April 2021 but it's definitely older than that. Probably from ~2013. For example, none of these are built yet, including Avalon which was completed in 2016:

This was officially submitted over 4 years ago. Not only aren't there shovels in the ground, but it's still going through the approval process!!! I don't understand how this even happens.

Tallest building in town, can you name the city?

I have 2 hints for the picture above. First, it's now only the tallest because of the spire as a new taller roof-height building was built in the last ten years. Second, it is outside the city's downtown area.

One Harbor Shore Dr. | Fan Pier Parcel H | 1 Harbor Shore Drive | Seaport

It's actually a supertall, 1031' in Austin of all places. That makes it the second Austin building to surpass the Hancock (first one was also hideous). The amazing thing is that Austin's skyline was about on par with Providence's at the turn of the century. They've gone absolutely bonkers...
