What accusations are you referring to DV74??

All for more accessible and up to standard paths. Thanks for the info cneal. Just mind boggling they would choose to do this to a rail line with so much room on either side to have the same result!

What in the world are we doing… this is “progressive” thinking?! How about the 20 foot wide path next to the rail tracks?! I’m baffled with how backwards this is.

    South Portland, Maine

This development gives me an opportunity to preach to the choir: Mill Creek/Knightville - a neighborhood situated about a mile from one of Americas most walkable, dense, historic, vibrant, in-demand neighborhoods: The Old Port. Yet, the urbanization period in US History left a shell of what...

    South Portland, Maine

One of the MANY parcels in the Knightville neighborhood in South Portland that could use this! There’s no reason that the skate shop, bank and another store or two won’t be right there on the ground floor when completed! Right along the edge of the park too. This is a huge win for Sopo! Any more...

Could put this in the Bayside thread but the Casco just looked too good!

89 Elm Street | Port Properties Bayside Phase 1A | Portland

Not much verticality yet but I’m so excited to see this one take shape. Tight footprint, big ol’ crane coming soon, and a large building in a once sad/underutilized parcel in Bayside. Pretty cool to imagine this street view perspective in 6 months then again in 2 years!

89 Elm Street | Port Properties Bayside Phase 1A | Portland

Portlander, good call but I’m just now seeing this! I’ll get a night shot later as there isn’t much visible progress yet. At night - the building is lit up and that’s something the city hasn’t seen for some time!!

Old Port Square (née Canal Plaza) | Portland

Maine Public posting their timely piece on this tower a day before planning board (tonight). They did a really good job laying out the facts but we all know who infested the comments. Hopefully this meeting isn’t overrun by the NIMBYs and some YIMBYs show up. At the end of the day it’s a tiny...

Old Port Square (née Canal Plaza) | Portland

That was before Herald Square revised their height to reach the height limit after recode so honestly this tower will fit in very well. Add 5-8 more stories for Herald Square on that visual I provided a while ago! We have to start somewhere!

    Lewiston, Maine's second largest city.

Photos of the Dewitt in downtown Lewiston, great project. Gotta love some good density next to a city park! Courtesy of Penobscot General Contractors on LinkedIn

    Portland Passenger Rail

Spot on Dr. Strange Hat. Pretty accurate mapping out of the 5% of the network not on existing rail too. That Gorham terminus station would be very suburban with plenty of parking for commuters who want to park and ride (and there would be many) but it would serve a huge catchment area and a...

    Portland Passenger Rail

Nice one Cneal! I like it. Reminds me of my tramway service idea which is highly realistic, especially if there is some new TOD zoning around some of these stations. 95% of this network is on existing track with a main hub at Union Station which would be a TOD redevelopment! Main differences...

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

Portland and Providence markets surging in New England along with many other mid sized markets around the country. PWM keeps impressing! Hopeful that improvements continue to be made despite neighbors, politics, and lack of recognition/funding from the state and federal levels.

Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

Load up that corridor along the rail tracks with as much density as possible. Hopefully in 10 years we activate that rail line again that stretches into downtown Westbrook to Thompsons Point and Union Station.

Some great updates! Thanks Portlander. Brutal national chain selection in my opinion, hopefully there are some better options than sonic… Luke’s or High Roller would be great in the Linda Bean spot. Honestly think the BK spot or Linda Bean could be split into two where you could have a burger...

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

Certainly an annoyance, we flew the other day and to put it into perspective, MCO has seen over 50 daily cancellations, Portland- 1 (Delta to LGA)!
