    Reasonable Transit Pitches

So I would like to circle back on all the interest in increasing train frequency to Gillette, particularly given World Cup events on the horizon. I think we can stop worrying about the World Cup crowds wanting train service -- not given the seat pricing that is emerging (this is going to be a...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Yes, those parcels should be developed. But they won't be until MassDOT acknowledges that hazardous waste sites do not have development potential until they are cleaned up. (Unless you plan to put a casino complex there.)

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Last activity by this team was in 2022, when they were selected as the bidder. And it better be called Zero Greenway, because 1 Kneeland is a real building up the street (as in a taken location). Peebles, famous for failed air rights development attempts. (MassDOT Parcel 25 is about 25% air...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Yes, but you have to clean up the hazardous waste first. Those are MA DOT parcels, and MA DOT won't bite the bullet and pay for the cleanup to make them developable. Also the Albany/Lincoln parcel is partial air rights, which also adds cost and complications.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

It is a pretty important little power plant. It provides the steam for the 29 miles of district steam power looping around downtown Boston. Provides HVAC via steam for over 230 big buildings and institutions in the city (Tufts Medical Center, MGH, ....). Vicinity is working on decommissioning...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

And don't forget the huge time saving for the traveler -- not just travel time (and missed flight risk), but the check-in and security process at New Bedford is going much faster than at Logan. Even if we had fast, frequent, on schedule regional rail to South Station from New Bedford, you still...

Cape Cod Rail, Bridges and Highways

Lots of people go to Provincetown by ferry and navigate the area successfully without a private automobile.

    Biking in Boston

As both a driver and cyclist, I really think we need to insist on better visibility for these barriers. I am appalled, for example, with the sharp granite curb barriers used in the Northern Strand extension along the Carroll Pkwy/Lynnway. There has been no attempt to make the curbing visible...

    Biking in Boston

Probably dodging because (as has been mentioned) there is no obvious solution for enforcement.

Lyrik Back Bay | 1001 Boylston Street (Parcel 12) | Back Bay

So thrilled he is doing a big residential project on the Lynn waterfront.

    Biking in Boston

The challenge is high performance e-bikes definitely blur the lines between e-bikes and mopeds. When you have top speeds in the 30-40 mph range, you should have crossed classifications (but often don't).

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Also, don't forget that this administration if fulling willing to use unrelated regulatory pressure points to achieve objectives (think like a mafia boss). If the administration want unfettered access to T stations to make ICE snatch and grabs, they might sic the DOT safety people on the T and...

    Logan Airport Capital Projects

I suspe I suspect the Convention Center present challenges in providing a secure boarding location -- you need the bus isolated so only cleared passengers can board. The area around the Convention center is quite busy with people.

    Lynn infill and small developments

Yes, and for the station just span the entire road to give access to both sides. You might even decide to stay over the Lynnway all the way up to Market Street -- and add a second station near the Ferry terminal at Blossom Street.

    Lynn infill and small developments

That masterplan screams for a BLX crossing near the General Edwards -- allocating ROW near the Lynnway, then cutting over to the Eastern Route CR alignment where the Lynnway gets close to the CR around Commercial Street.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

But the point is the traffic doesn't really back up on the Lynnway. It is somewhat metered by all the traffic lights, but buses do not wait a long time to reenter traffic (partially because they never really leave traffic, they effectively block the 3rd travel lane at the stops, the stops do...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I really doubt you can get 5-8 minutes of improvement with the stop frequency on the Lynnway.

Non MBTA buses, School buses, and electrification

I think you are right -- they are bookable on the Amtrak site or app, but only if you are going further than PVD or WOR by train.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I do find it strange that the top goal is: Faster travel times on public transport between Lynn and Wonderland The Lynnway (3 travel lanes) is not the bottleneck to that travel time. North Shore Road (2 travel lanes) in Revere is the bottleneck. A center running bus lane on the Lynnway would...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

I know why it happened. That does not make it a good thing that it happened. And we did not get BRT. We got half-assed BRT.
