Ann & Hope Mill Conversion | Cumberland

I doubt most of us will ever see regular train service from Woonsocket during our lifetimes. RI would better be served extending commuter rail service to Kingston and Westerly where most all the necessary infrastructure is already in place. The P&W lines that run by Ann & Hope meet up with and...

Ann & Hope Mill Conversion | Cumberland

It is a still active freight line using the old Providence and Worcester tracks linking the cities. It long ago stopped regular passenger service. It actually once had a station here (photo below).

Ann & Hope Mill Conversion | Cumberland

Thought this large mill conversion was worth having its own thread. The old textile mill on the Blackstone River in the Lonsdale neighborhood of Cumberland which later became the original Ann & Hope Dept Store and HQ is getting close to redevelopment and conversion. It will be mixed use with...

Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

Based on photos from the naming announcement, it appears the eastern/river side stands are now in place. They look to be basic temporary type bleachers unlike the individual chairback seating on the three other sides. My guess is that if there are concerts, the stage would be set up in front...

Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

Could not find how much they are paying but given it is a small local (RI and CT only) bank with just 19 branch locations, I cannot imagine it is significant. The much larger national insurance carrier Amica pays $900k per year for the Providence arena which hosts the P-Bruins, PC Friars, and...

Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

I think parking is going to be quite the challenge in the first year with plenty of changes likely made to adapt to what officials see actually happening on the ground during events.

Stadium & Riverwalk | Tidewater Landing | Pawtucket

The parking is surely going to be a big issue early on. The long term plan for the stadium included parking related to other businesses next to it and across the river connected by a pedestrian bridge. The thinking was that the surface lots and possible parking garages for these would be...

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

In Westerly, progress for an upgraded train station, chugs along. Why there's new hope https://www.yahoo.com/news/westerly-progress-upgraded-train-station-090505429.html The Westerly Station is a Spanish Colonial Revival structure with an under the tracks tunnel built in 1913. It is within...

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

It is good that these cities are finally connected to Boston by rail. I however do not expect to see a large number of daily commuters from either Fall River or New Bedford. It looks to be approximately some 1:40 long ride. Not many people will want to do that regularly each day.

Food Hall | Union Station | Providence

A small section of the fencing was down on Wednesday when I was there and I was able to access Waterplace Park using the tunnel under Memorial Blvd. I am disappointed that the former tunnel under the old train station that ended at the ice rink does not look to have been incorporated into the...

Food Hall | Union Station | Providence

I checked it out today. The space is very nice. The food is pricey. I have my doubts on how it will fare with the RI public. Seems that visitors might be more of the focus
