    243 Mystic Avenue | Medford

A few updates: A small crew was on site today. I'd guess they were digging test pits. It is for sale now, noting previous approval for 5-6 story lab: https://www.burgessproperties.com/listings/detail/243-mystic-ave And it may have been previously auctioned off in February.

Massachusetts Turnpike/I-90 (Current Projects, Conceptual Improvements, & Long Term)

Hopefully they have a better follow-through with MassDOT over NY State. They tried to have NY bail them out about $250 million shortly after demolishing half the rest stops on the Thru Way and promising to not cost taxpayers a dime - it looked really shady, but I don't think they ended up...

Medford, MA Infill and Small Developments

Very much so. They're working on it quite aggressively from what I notice the few days per week I pass by. The top level of steel has taken a while, but demo, foundations, the stairwell, and earthwork/site work have been pretty aggressive.

Not to derail further, but I'm seeing more in restaurants too... without any indication they're a service animal.

    🔹 What's Happening With Project X?

Following up on this, there was a non-public (as far as I'm aware) groundbreaking Friday, per the utility project construction notes.

Educate everyone on a good website...

https://www.oskarstalberg.com/game/CityGenerator/ This isn't great in terms of having a lot of control, but I think interesting enough to share. What I notice is it seems to build it in a more European style at first, then there seems to be some road building script that turns the European city...

    Street Name Etymology

The Boston Brahmin were an interesting bunch - Peter Brigham owned a restaurant (until it was closed for road widening) and owned some real estate, then dedicated his fortune to an endowment for Brigham Hospital (and build it). Not sure many restaurant owners could say they could establish a...

ArchBoston Book Club (Book #1 - Abundance)

I struggle on an answer for this that isn't along the lines of "just do it" regarding providing housing for the homeless to force an "ah, so it was about housing..." I realize this was my answer before for another question, so maybe I'm just growing impatient with the general status of things...

Old Port Square (née Canal Plaza) | Portland

This took a few hours to grow on me... and now that I've heard the lighthouse comparison, I'm more of a fan. There's something still off about the top - the curves don't resemble New England/Maine much at all. I'd be interested to see iterations of different tops on this. I think it still needs...

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

These were done by an intern with a deadline of "the presentation is tomorrow, please stay late" and often require photoshopping and cropping out figures from pictures in stock photos or online images. They're done quick and cheap because nobody really pays attention to the people - they're just...

ArchBoston Book Club (Book #1 - Abundance)

(I read/listened ahead...which is book club rule #1 to not break (but I unfortunately now sit in quite a bit of traffic some days..). I don't really remember much of the specific details of the introduction, because the meat of the book does contain a lot more weeds and dryness. I will say I...
