South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

The GCT-LIRR connection is 17 stories underground??? Damn thats deep! Pretty sweet to connect those two. What they really need and I'm kinda surprised they don't already have it is a subway to Laguardia...and a subway shuttle direct from Laguardia to JFK (this could even have 2 stops at Queens...

    Population & Economic Growth

Boston and almost every other major city in the US has been shrinking in population since the pandemic. Some core cities have shrunk slightly, but its offset by the continued growth of their suburbs. Are the immediate Boston suburbs growing in population or are they shrinking too?

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

So this doesn't look like its 446 feet as listed on wikipedia. Looks more like a 380-400 footer...????

Stanhope Hotel | 39 Stanhope Street | Back Bay

Does approved mean these towers are all definitely going to be built? If yes, its going to be great to add some more density to the Back Bay...even if none of them are 500 footers. Need those 300+ guys for increasing the density.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

I can understand downsizing to an 343 or a 350 in the winter. But why go with the gas guzzling 744 over a 748? Especially with the Ukraine-energy crisis in Europe.

Did Lufthansa stop flying the 748 into Boston?

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

This looks the same height as the Marriot and Westin at Copley Place...how tall are those two hotels? I was thinking/hoping that Raffles would be visibly taller than those two.

Has this thing topped out already?

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

From 93 north, Winthrop looks taller than MT (which it is but only by like 5 feet)...once the crown and cladding is done, it might hopefully look to be 20-50 feet taller than MT from that vantage point!

This is looking quite massive now especially from close up.

What happened to the flights to Boston by El Al, Royal Air Maroc, and Hainan Airlines???

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

I'm guesstimating its about 2/3 of the way there already. About 1/3 taller.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

OK so part of the tower ends at this height, correct?

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Is this still a building with two separate roofs? Like the original had roofs at 691 and 570 feet or something.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

MT is quite prominent coming in on 93 from the south and I'm guessing Winthrop Square will be also (its basically right next to MT). Of course SST will add another decent glass tower to that. Overall not terrible by any means.

Yeah I thought it was just me, but I too have noticed this thing hasn't gotten any taller in a hot minute.

    2020 Census results

Looks like the MSA (Greater Boston) population was tagged at 4.94 million. Just under 5 million! If you include the missing COVID students, the MSA population would probably go past 5 million and Boston past 700,000 probably. You'd think there are at least 60,000 college students in the area...

    2020 Census results

Anyone else surprised/disappointed to see the official 2020 census has Boston at a mere 675K, while the 2019 estimate was up around 692K? NYC somehow shattered expected growth with 8.8M (estimates were in the 8.3 to 8.4 range). Suburbs like Cambridge, Quincy, and Worcester all grew more...
