LOL does it? The entire Mass Turnpike from Boston to New York State border was built within 3 years. *

Massachusetts State Flag (we need a better state flag)

Why wouldn't New York go onwards back with Netherlands? As it was a/k/a New Amsterdam?

    General Boston Discussion

Hey, sorry for the lack of clarity. I agree Blue Line to Kendall is preferable to Bowdoin. In lieu of the fact that the tight turnaround and huge traffic to be experienced could be problematic to the hospitals in the area, and it seemed like a large amount of the cost would be working in the...

    General Boston Discussion

Blue-Red Line connector to Charles MGH is short sighted. Only a couple of problems. 1- You sometimes have to let train, after train, after train, go by on the Red Line if trying to board anywhere after Harvard Station. Meaning by Central and Kendall the trains are overstuffed. So good luck...

UMass Boston Developments | Columbia Point | Dorchester

Who's bright idea was it to outsource it????? [ . . . ] The dorm was built, and is operated, by a private, for-profit company that leases land from UMass. Students make their housing payments directly to the company, Capstone Development, which will own the building for 40 years. After that...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link If all 11-12 commuter rail lines are going to be passing through Boston this Rail Link is going to need a lot more than 2 tracks. It might need like 5-6 tracks like Back Bay in order to handle all those train routes.

Why not just cut-and-cover under the current unused railyard? Harvard I'm sure would love the opportunity to use more of the surface land to build more buildings and or green space like another Harvard Yard.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link Yes.... Two pair of tracks is always best. The lack of such is why the MBTA is such a mess today. All it takes is one train breakdown and everything grinds to a halt (in both directions) when there's only 2 tracks. At least if you have 4 tracks and a train...

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

I'd rather not have my tax dollars filling Amazon's coffers considering it is already one of the largest companies on the planet. Hope they don't pick Cambridge. Amazon can afford to pay for their own HQ.

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

If Boston makes an offer for Cambridge I'd take 'em up on it. I HATTTE this crap about having to go all the way out to Woburn to do Jury Duty when Suffolk County Court is just across the Charles River and I'm not allowed to just serve there next to me.

    Amazon HQ2 RFP

Re: The New Office Thread This might be something better for out near Springfield/Western Massachusetts as Amazon I am sure will want ample land to be able to expand distribution warehouses later on as needed around their campus. Plus it could kick start light rail, monorail, commuter rail...

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link Wasn't the cost of the North-South Rail Link supposed to be kept low due to the fact the cement exterior walls of the current MA-I93 tunnel extend down to bedrock? This was supposed to create a natrually forming (pocket) area inbetween those concrete walls that...

The Railroad Before the Bikepath: The Lexington and West Cambridge Railroad

It could still be done. Because of the 'third rail' the red line cannot cross streets so it would need to be underground below the bike trail much like it is underground below the bike trail between Alewife and Davis Sq. however given there's not really any heavy structures above, construction...

Porter Square Infill and Small Developments

So wish they could let them cover the Fitchburg Commuter Rail tracks. It would make the neighborhood sooo much more quieter instantly without the sound of commuter rail trains rumbling through.

    Comm Ave Bridge Replacement.

I don't see how anything would get better unless somethings were pushed underground or you create an 'El'. The Boston College "B" line runs down the center of Comm. Ave. That alone plus the lanes on the either side make it feel like you're crossing a HUGE expense of roadway (punctuated by...

    Comm Ave Bridge Replacement.

Sidewalks look huge and the re-work doesn't seem to take into consideration where heavy snows will go in relation to bike line traffic. Boston doesn't vacuum up thesnow like they do in Toronto and Montreal.
