Anyone know what is happening at the corner of Washington and archdale? They tore down the used car place, but it looks like they haven’t started anything else.

I’ve heard DCR is going to start the master planning process for the SW corridor this summer. Anyone know what this means? I’ve also heard the city has been looking at the crossings - hopefully to make them more bike friendly.

I have some info on Columbus. City is hoping to start work on protected bike lanes on the northern portion next spring (where the protected bike lanes were last summer). There appears to be a political issue with the stretch just north of mass Ave, though, and the city is not able to comment on it.

Fenway section of boylston parking protected bike lanes installation started on Monday. https://www.boston.gov/sites/default/files/file/2022/04/2022%20Boylston%20Street%20Construction%20Flyer%20%281%29.pdf My main route involves Columbus. I really miss the temporary parking protected lanes up...

General Electric HQ (Necco Buildings Reno) | 5 Necco Street | Fort Point

Re: General Electric HQ (Phase 1 - Necco Buildings Reno) | 244-284 A Street | Fort Po Don’t they have offices next door? Also seems like an odd coincidence that they pull out of nyc the exact same day as GE announces this sale.

I used to be a year round commuter. The worst was riding in unprotected bike lanes or shared streets in rain after dark. People already have trouble seeing and you combine that with people messing around on their phones. I liked riding in snow. The cold wasn’t so bad, but you really need things...

    Parking Permits

Having parking permits on an open market is just inviting corruption. That’s public space - it’s not for residents to auction off. It should be a yearly fee and limited number per household. This is a utility fee for the right to store your vehicle on public property.

All he had to do was say that the city was working on street safety and that they may rethink their level of funding. Totally non-commital and non-confrontational without admitting he doesn't know anything. Instead he's actively bullying safe street advocates - many of whom are connected to...

Boston's Comprehensive Transportation Plan Unveiled 3/7/2017

^ parking garages in the city cost around 50-100 million. That's also the range of the work currently being done up at forest hills. I think the problem is that if you want federal $ they often force you to include cars. But I agree about transit projects. People have wanted and additional...

Boston's Comprehensive Transportation Plan Unveiled 3/7/2017

No. The cost of adding a single stop in roslindale while keeping the commuter rail active to needham. That's a single station and likely a single track spur from forest hills. My guess is somewhere between $50-100 million. Edit - this is the least complicated leg - widest section of he ROW...

Boston's Comprehensive Transportation Plan Unveiled 3/7/2017

Orange line one stop to Roslindale - how much do you guys think that will cost? People have been asking for this for decades. There's also apparently space for 3 tracks along the entire ROW to Needham - which could potentially allow both the CR and the orange line run adjacent to each other...

In other words, we have very little respect for bikes as transportation and we found a loophole to do something unsafe. It's within the rules so it's not our fault if someone dies.

There's a request for proposals out to redevelop he Archdale projects. The RFP mentions "mixed income" development and I've heard that the plan is to add more units than what is existing.

The interim condition is their "rapid response" Which is apparently 12 months and only after threats of mass protest from multiple safe street organizations and activists. meanwhile the city has taken 2 years to send a couple people out to "assess" the current state of existing bike lanes -...

Vision zero funding is a complete joke. If any bike infrastructure is happening under this admin it is going to require direct action. Walsh doesn't care. BTD commish cares more about generating income from parking meters than safety of road users. The pressure needs to be relentless until...

so - is the boston cyclist union or reps from the city's "active transportation" department showing up to these meetings? This is really frustrating. DPW has been causing a lot of trouble lately, and I really wish there was greater scrutiny over their engineering.
