Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

As a Rozzie resident myself I agree 100%. Frequency beats everything else. Always.

    Crazy Airport Pitches

Those flightpaths are incredibly tight, and that is a big problem (first hand experience). The level of accuracy is now at going-through-the-same-street kind of level. Also, if I am not mistaken, noise loss is related to the square of the distance, so being slightly off-path means almost...

MIT New 450-bed Residence Hall | 121 Vassar St. | Cambridge

Are you actually willing to put money on that? Because that is the safest bet I could get.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

This has always been mind-blowing to me. The removal of the overpass could have been/could be a great opportunity for it, now that a massive physical barrier between both neighborhoods is down. I go frequently to JP (Center st.) from Roslindale sq. I would love to take a single seat and leave...

    Silver Line to Chelsea

I don't use it enough to suggest how it should be branded, but since one time I was dropped in the middle of car traffic in Huntington avenue, you can be sure I don't consider it an equal, not just to the Orange, Blue or Red, but to the other green branches.

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Re: Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail You are right, but the numbers get (to me) even more depressing if you put a massive number like 100 years. Even then it makes no sense. With 1,000 years it enters the ballpark of reasonable (!). $3 Billion!.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

Re: North-South Rail Link As somebody working for a technology start-up downtown, it amazes me how much cheaper it is than Kendall. For us, with people coming from everywhere around Boston the public transport access would make us put a premium for downtown, but instead we get a discount...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

...the scientific community that also affects Boston very directly will not be happy either. What is a visiting professor/post-doc/PhD-student going to do? International conferences? Look somewhere else. This is madness.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

That's precisely my point. We say (correctly, in my opinion): "Internet is terrible compared to what they have in south korea". We don't say "MA has a better internet than 37 other states". It would make no sense. Your new founded company either has access to high quality internet or it hasn't...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

*Bold mine Every time somebody writes a sentence like this one, they find the need to add the "American". Nobody would do that talking about internet speeds, airports, highways, etc. Does it make it any better that a public transport system as imperfect as Boston is one of the best in the...

    General Infrastructure

Look at the tram in Zaragoza (Spain). This is exactly how it works inside the historic city center (for aesthetic reasons). I am not sure about reliability but it is absolutely beautiful. The technology is definitely there.

Plan Nubian Square Parcel P-3 (née Tremont Crossing) | Roxbury

Re: Tremont Crossing project F-Line, what is your estimation ($) for that +1 OL project? I would love to have a number a bit more solid than my own random guesses.

    Casey Overpass

Whoa, crazy! That band-aid project has been going on for years. I lived nearby more than 2 years ago and they were already going at it. Almost 1 year per lane. Sounds absurd for a cosmetic repair. Particularly if it has to take place again in less than 20 years. On the bright side, it makes the...

    Casey Overpass

But the Bowker is being repaired as we speak, right? Doesn't it mean that it will be decades (many) until any alternative project is realistically on the table? Also, unrelated question for you guys with urban planning backgrounds: The code used by Prof. Furth to create the traffic study...

Plan Nubian Square Parcel P-3 (née Tremont Crossing) | Roxbury

Re: Tremont Crossing in Roxbury Not getting into the JP/Roxbury debate, for me the really criminal thing is to have that wasted space next to a T stop. I would love to see a duplicate of the construction happening just now across the street, so the city starts to move in the direction of high...

Mosaic Boston Condos | 80-82 Fenwood Road | Longwood

Please, tell me this is not true. I do commute this way and when the right lane is blocked and somebody in the left lane decides to turn left into Brookline Ave, you basically have a main artery of the city with no movement at all for a full traffic light cycle. Madness!
