Would it not just be easier to discuss a better way of naming threads? I know things can change through the process, but presumably moderators have the ability to rename threads after creation.

This is how another thread that I am active on titles threads...

Personally I am a fan of more individual threads and see no concern with a open threads, but that is my personal opinion and how I like to navigate the site. I agree that the "infill" threads can bury things pretty quickly if too many things are essentially dumped in there. Sometimes those infill projects are more important than the tall boys, depending on a number of variables.

Pretty much how I feel. If you're even a semi-active (weekly) user I don't think it's too hard to keep track of most of the projects in the Development Projects forum!

And what’s the actual harm of clicking on a thread by mistake, you might actually learn there’s still a city and people living and working where the buildings drop below ten floors?

I find this discussion hilarious, since the main complainant bomb posts to 10-20 threads all at once from suburban hilltop pano shots that make the sleekest and tallest buildings look unrealistically squat and fat just to show off the long range of his camera. Seriously, how many times have folks come here, get excited to see 17 new thread updates listed in the list and then gone into each one and realize - - "Oh, it's all slices from ONE DZ hilltop long distance pano shoot, sliced up into 17 pieces to place into 17 different project threads"........and now HE is the one complaining about thread etiquette????? The solemn piety of his ironic argument is (chef's kiss) perfect!.

But to each his/her own. And he IS contributing, so I thank him for that - - however he should respect others too - glass houses and all...... No one should dictate to others. Its the job of the moderators. If you have a gripe, go to them. Don't be a Karen to the entire board.
