Here's a site from the University of Oklahoma's Institute for Quality Communities with some interesting (and depressing) before and after images of some the bigger cities of the northeast US. Boston is included:

providence is particularly shocking.
 
Milwaukee, Syracuse and Rochester look like they got hit pretty hard by urban renewal
 
Damn, compared to some of these cities, it seems like Boston got out relatively well. I mean, at least we didn't replace the West End with parking lots.
 
Yea Boston made out about as well as it could. It could have been a lot worse, I forgot who brought the last Boston Master Plan from 1961(?) to the aB meetup but there were plans in there for flattening all of Beacon Hill which was... shocking.
