Amazon HQ2 selected - and not Boston

Coming from a 5 year old misogynist, I don't know if this comments mean much.

Actually I know this comment doesn't mean much.

Brad really swinging hard to be the 2nd person to be banned from Archboston.org this year
A deeply ignorant and narcissistic socialist has been mildly criticized and not surprisingly Kent drags out the phony misogynist card. And makes a not very subtle call for censorship and banning simply because of his well-established intolerance for any opinion differing from his own.

Critique the policies, don't make ad hominem attacks. The fuck.

Please back your preceding remarks with evidence:

"child legislator":

"intellectual sophistication of a 12 year old":

"deeply ignorant":

"narcissistic":

I am patiently awaiting your intellectual response. Thank you.

I'm with you buddy, but on second thought how about we not encourage having this conversation here?

"During a conference call with the leftist political group Justice Democrats, Rep.-elect Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) revealed that she has no idea what the three branches of the U.S. government are.

"If we work our butts off to make sure that we take back all three chambers of Congress — Uh, rather all three chambers of government: the presidency, the Senate, and the House," Ocasio-Cortez said in a pitch to recruit more far-left political candidates.

As most of us know, the three branches (not chambers) of the U.S. government are: executive, legislative, and judicial."

If you want your proposals to nudge the Overton Window and become eventual policy you’ll need to be far more realism-based than the unicorns and rainbows agenda Cortez has so far presented. She could possibly mature into a more nuanced even effective rep, if she lasts that long, but the country and world are delicate, immensely complicated organisms difficult enough to be run by the “professionals” let alone the naive amateurs.

Point taken on ad hominem and yes relocate this part of the thread if it continues.

Correct. I like some of what Ocasio-Cortez is doing, because at some point the truth about what is possible will come out. But utopian-based rants in realism free zones will succeed in getting these radicals elected. But, with less and less good planning, we just end up with one failed to launch after the other.

But, rather than engage in an honest public dialogue w/ both sides of the political aisle, or bother to consult with qualified experts, we end up with these brainless, austere plans that will only succeed in destroying our economy.

California DNC promised the greatest high speed rail system in the west.... then it was 150mph, then 125, and now it's Kaput. Great job! The DNC has to be careful or soon they'll be labled as the Marxist Loon Unicorn party.

We have a similar projects that must get done; NSRL and a few other critical infrastructure projects. Luckily the DNC in Massachusetts hasn't gone full unicorn like California.

You have a history of making misogynistic posts so don't pretend you're some innocent victim. Honestly you never have anything to contribute to the forum. At times, you're just as bad as Rifleman, but at least at times he's on topic.

I'd go with "supposedly about", not "driven by". This was cultural conflict, plain and simple. Non-white people in Queens saw Amazon as wanting privileged employees from privileged classes who would drive them out of their homes and make tons of money at jobs no one there now would be qualified for. The subsidy was a convenient excuse.

Amazon also had awful timing, choosing Queens right as the AOC lightning hit.

I'm sorry, but that is patently false.

I saw a poll on CNN or MSNBC last night that showed NY resident support numbers for Amazon's locating there at:

51% White
70% Black
81% Latino

(I may have the black and Latino percentages reversed, but the poll was quite illuminating).

This wasn't racial, it was political/social hipsters vs. the people who could have benefited from jobs (or the ancillary jobs from those hi-tech jobs) and opportunities not handouts.

Nothing was said of her being a woman so I'm not sure why you felt the need to accuse him of misogyny. His commentary was based entirely on her lack of professional and legislative experience.

Equilibria, I found the poll, btw from Siena that was being shown on CNN:

https://www.nationalreview.com/news/poll-majority-of-new-yorkers-supported-amazon-moving-to-nyc/

"...A significant majority (56 percent) of all New Yorkers approved of the plan while 36 percent disapproved. Among New York City residents support was slightly stronger at 58 percent.

Support was most pronounced among minorities: 70 percent of black voters approved while just 25 percent disapproved, and 81 percent of Latinos approved compared to 17 percent who disapproved.".

I haven't really been following the Rep. Ocasio-Cortez story much to this point, but, in this case, it doesn't seem she is representing the voters of her district as much as political dogma.

This sounds like a great conversation to make a thread for in the General forum...

I would normally agree, but at this point the HQ2 search is over. Boston didn't win. This thread really has no purpose other than random musings about all things amazon. Maybe just move the whole thread at this point?

What the hell have I just been reading for the past few pages? Jesus Christ guys, don’t turn AB into this. Please. We’ve made it this long.

So we should probably lock this thread.

We need more mods...
