Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

?These buildings do not fit the scale of the Prudential Center,? said Ann Gleason of the neighborhood association. ?They are out of character.?

Right. Because the Pru and 111 Huntington aren't tall at all.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

It was an entertaining hearing, with a terrific outcome.

No you're wrong, what she is saying is that the buildings are not tall enough to look to scale with the Pru and 111.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

I love the people saying that adding 6 stories to a building is the greatest injustice in the history of the world. How anyone making that claim can be taken seriously is beyond me. Oh wait, their Rep. is Marty Walz. Now it makes sense!

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

Hooray!

Now lets hope credit problems dont derail this

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

I get the feeling there's no intention to build these anytime soon. Get the red tape out of the way and once the markets clear up in two years they can hit the ground running.

During the hearing, Boston Properties again reiterated that construction of 888 starts this spring. I imagine due diligence is complete, since they own the property and the area lies within the Prudential bathtub.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

While I have no objection to the height of the building, I do object to making an agreement and then breaking it.

How do you mean? The PruPac advisory team made a series of recommendations that were accepted by the BRA in 1990.

Boston Properties gained controlling interest in the complex in late 1998.

Article 80B is the approved mechanism that examines modifications to existing zoning and also provides the BRA the ability to grant zoning relief.

This went through the proper process.

Hey statler, maybe we need a "Dumbest Quote of 2008" award?

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

She is somewhat right. New Prudential Center buildings should reflect their historic context of bricked-over socialist bloc housing.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

Just in time for Christmas!

They were taking away the fences from in front of the Saks Fifth Avenue on Ring Road, earlier today.

The road is now open (as of 6:00 PM, 16 December).

Economy saved!

Did Saks get a facelift?

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

No, just a lot of silicone in the front.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

ugly/pointless.

Botox injections usually are.

To be fair, the months-long street closing was actually a separate project to repair Ring Road and stop the rainstorm in the parking garage below. Though, I actually believe it was a deliberate scheduling (!) to coincide with Saks to provide least inconvenience.

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

Can we please please rename Ring Road?

I find that hard to believe. The road was closed for a long time while the Mandarin bridge was being done

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

Did the Mandarin actually get built? I thought that last I heard it had been stopped due to finances. Or maybe it was just something to do with a tenant or less luxury penthouses or something...

Re: New Tower(s) Planned For Prudential Center

It has its on thread on here with lots of photos to prove it exists in its full beige glory.
