Not sure Ive seen a massive wall of steel like that in a core structure before, usually thats done with concrete. When they need to stiffen up a side with steel they usually do x bracing, theres cross bracing on the other side so maybe they needed this side to be even stiffer? Either way pretty cool.

The steel core does make this one rise quickly. Pretty soon it’s going to dwarf the old Volpe.

I have endless respect for the folks who work the high steel. Casually walking out the flange of a girder that’s held up by the crane is not for everyone.

Looks like it is about halfway up the second layer of the stack, based on the renders on page 1.

In the background they are excavating the old canal again. Based on the lining, I think it’s yet more remediation.
