The Shell station location is begging for a standout development.

From today.

Photo 3 from Lansdowne St shows the school in context with its rising neighbor, the MGM Music Hall. The garage next door in the last photo is a poignant vestige of the area's extensive auto-oriented past (and present that still survives today in Fenway's remaining surface lots, stroads, and massive amounts of underground off-street parking).

Is there a deader man walking than that Ipswich Street Garage?
There's no way that the Red Sox aren't thinking ahead to what they want to with that. They just have to be. And may god help them if they're going to let that stand.

Around the park is coming along nicely. If I were the NIMBYs, I'd keep taking my geritol. Because they need all the energy to stop this from happening.

But that garage is a prime example of early 20th century industrial architecture! It is one of the few such surviving specimens in the area. It is a regional treasure. A GoFundMe account should be set up to preserve it. ;)

Call me a buzzkill but after seeing what just happened <400 meters from here I wish more was done to actually protect architecture. The way it goes in reality is that you can tear down what you want as long as nothing gets built in its place with too high an FAR. See also: this entire thread.
