A thread for paintings/drawings/sculptures/other media of the city and surrounding area. Photos are, of course, awesome, but as the son of an artist (see below) I also like seeing the different aesthetic interpretations of the region.

I'll be a good son and start with my mother, who went to MassArt and was finally able to start painting more frequently as my sister and I graduated high school and moved on to other things. She does a whole host of subjects, but painting plein air in the city is something she loves when the weather is good. Cool thread idea--your mom's paintings are beautiful! :)

If we're talking "Boston in Art," I'd be remiss not to highlight Childe Hassam's Boston Common at Twilight. It's on display at the MFA, and one of my favorite time capsules of Boston to look back at each year as the city evolves.

Does it count if I put a filter on my pictures that make it look like it's painted? :LOL:
 
My husband is the director of the Guild of Boston Artists. All kinds of good Boston and New England scenes on display there in traditional styles.

Fantastic paintings from your mother, and it's good to see some work from a MassArt alumni. I was accepted to go there after high school but opted instead for another direction, civil engineering I'll always have an affection for MassArt.
 
I don't think that's a full painting but there's definitely some good digital manipulation going on there. The melting effect on some of the buildings is interesting.
 
They remind me of architectural renderings, before Cad took over.
 
Those are sick! I like that they all appear to be late-80s, early-90s timeframe. Neat style, too.
 
Pretty nice painting, albeit a little dated.
