Per WCVB news report this evening, which includes video of the rat infestation (it's impressive):

BOSTON—The city of Boston has temporarily suspended the food license of a Starbucks store inside South Station after video surfaced of rodents crawling inside a display case and eating products.

A spokesperson from Boston Inspectional Services confirmed the suspension was handed out on Friday for the Starbucks at 700 Atlantic Ave.

In the inspector's report, the store's manager confirmed an incident of rodent activity along the countertops and inside a counter display case after hours. The manager then allegedly shared video evidence with the inspector...

A Starbucks spokesperson released the following statement in response to the closure:

“Our South Street Station location is temporarily closed while we address a pest issue. We will not reopen until we are confident that the store meets our high standards of cleanliness and safety. We look forward to welcoming our customers back soon.”

I'm sure Starbucks corporate is on top of the situation at their "South Street Station" location.

I wonder how the management company responsible for South Station is handling this?

Not defending SBs but seriously though, does anyone think those rats are just picking Starbucks only? It's south station with doors constantly opening 21 hours a day. They are all over every vendor in there. It's kind of hard go have one vendor blamed when it's the entire facility that is clearly the problem.

Which is why I asked "I wonder how the management company responsible for South Station is handling this?"

I wasn't responding to yours, in fact, I was responding to BigPicture's comment. I didn't notice yours, only read the article - but yes you did ask that, you're correct 👍

Hope I didn't come across critical of your post. Your post is spot on.

I used to be a regular traveler through South Station, but it has been a couple of years now. Is the passenger concourse any better now than it was then? The management company was clearly mailing it in when I passed through.
