Tower A scaffolding coming down:

Many good hedonistic times were had in those buildings. Leave something historical inside, if you can. There was talk once when Motley Crew destroyed a suite at the Hyatt on Sunset (LA) of leaving it that way, preserved, for perhaps a lasting exhibit.

The scaffolding on Tower B must have been put up while students were still living there.

To anyone under 40, REM was a popular band from the 90's and I believe the lyric is "don't get caught in foreign towers" not Warren Towers
You're correct -- for whatever reason it caught on as somewhat of a protest anthem to the oppressive Silber-era at BU.

I think the best phase of this project is with the scaffolding up (not the first time this is being said in this thread). Kinda wish we had more High Tech Architecture/Richard Rogers/Renzo Piano here..

This is costing $550 million already. BU likely couldn't afford a name architect.

BU has an endowment surpassing $4 billion. So it's not Harvard by any stretch of the imagination in those terms, but it/they can still afford whatever the fuck they want.

This is costing $550 million already. BU likely couldn’t afford a name celebrity architect. The purpose of this renovation is to modernize Warren to 21st century standards and blend contextually with its surroundings.

BU is having Trump inspired budget issues. In addition to the 120 occupied jobs, the university eliminated an extra 120 vacant positions and changed the schedules for around 20 employees. The cuts were part of a university-wide 5% budget reduction implemented to address financial strains, including federal funding impacts and declining graduate enrollment.

The Pardee School building, which was to begin construction this month, has been indefinitely postponed due to the same budget issues.

burden & tom, do we really need to have a BU/NU pissing contest here & in the BU Data Sciences Ctr. thread Warren Towers Renovation thread?
Seriously you two. The rest of us finished our popcorn like 6 years ago.

I think the real question we should all be asking ourselves is: what do you think of the Rem Koolhaas REM Cool House? Michael Stipe co-designed it I hear.
