Hellooooo to all those who remember who the hell I am. I'm still bopping around New England here and there, just not at the rate I used to
Anywho, on Sunday my lady and I made a day trip up to my childhood hometown (lived there from ages 1-7) of Brattleboro, Vermont, a town that always finds a way to surprise me -- this time it was the insanely orange-yellow foliage colors and the surprisingly heavy tourist traffic that accompanies it (especially on this holiday weekend). I don't recall EVER seeing it so bursting with traffic, both pedestrian and vehicular (including dozens upon dozens of Harleys rumbling through) and although I would've preferred it a bit less chaotic, I'd certainly take that over finding it desolate and ignored--I didn't see even one retail vacancy in all of downtown.
As always, Brattleboro was endlessly charming, what with its dense little downtown packed with shops, bookstores and restaurants, and the sheer density of trees and hills crowding it from all angles. I feel very blessed to have spent my early childhood there as it gave me many magical memories that I cherish to this day
So here we go, driving though central MA
Hooking up with I-91
And now in town
Quick trip across the bridge to New Hampshire, just once this Amtrak train moves...
The Connecticut River
And back into town
