I'm of this mindset as well. The solution they used is inelegant, but the reality is the demands of modern healthcare, just to meet Joint Commission standards, let alone excel in care, are beyond what most of the older buildings could handle, especially in regards to floorplan. Anything that can be done to maintain the look of the building is going to end up a form of facadectomy.Since it's a hospital, I'll cut it some slack.
