I remember going on the Nantasket ferry in the 1950s when I was a kid, with my mother, sisters and aunt. Nantasket Beach was a primo summer destination via this ferry, with its tremendous amusement park. Fun times.

I did some digging, and on "Lost Boston" on Facebook they say the goddess statues were removed in 1947 because they were hollow concrete and had started to deteriorate, and shed pieces of concrete down to the sidewalk below, making them a danger to the public.Why'd they remove them?
Looks like section of Brasilia got plopped onto Boston
