The EMS station looks new/unique but as something that looks like a proper EMS station, the fire station is the most stereotypical seaport building of all time. If you had to design a fire station and make it look as seaport as it possibly can youd get this.
I would have rather they made it closer to the EMS station or the new fire station in dorchester just to give some different colors/massing/materials to the neighborhood instead of all blue glass all the time everywhere. It also makes its presence known what it is so anybody that passes it will know what it is and where it is without having to search for it later if they need to go. Architecture can give out information into the world with the style it chooses like “here is the neighborhood fire station right here” vs “oh look another anonymous blue glass building”. It also doesnt always need to be the same exact brick fire station every time either, the EMS building looks different than any other EMS building but still looks like an EMS building and gives some variety to the built environment.
