I wonder if Rifleman also used the report post function as a way to troll moderators. At any rate, if TMM does indeed = Rif, then the sleeper account is pretty clear evidence that he is just a troll. Maybe we should all start reporting his posts for trolling.

Dear Mr. HenryAlan,

Are you referencing me in this comment TMM? If so can we please stop.

^ Wow great news, that was a major missing link that was going to be a disaster if nothing was built. This changes a lot. Not only does it become transit accessible which is HUGE, but there will be less traffic on city streets too when people can take the exit off 93 right into Assembly and use one of the billion parking garages/parking lots there that have tons of capacity. It means you can also easily walk there from Somerville. Plus it will tie into Assembly, which imo is beneficial to both the casino and Assembly/Somerville.

Assembly should see MUCH more foot traffic from casino patrons who want to get out of the building and walk around, go to a restaurant, mingle, catch a movie, or even visit lego land etc... Encore is a nice upscale hotel to stay at when visiting Boston with upscale dining, high profile rooms, luxury shopping, a club, ballroom, gambling floor etc... So now when you stay there your not just trapped on the casino floor or hotel room youll have a nice little downtown area close by to get out and walk around in and explore and enjoy your time here plus youre next to the river, water taxi, and orange line to easily get downtown. This is beneficial to Everett and Somerville, Assembly and Encore, and the people going to the casino or staying at the hotel.

This really is going to be a great experience for people to go to a casino that is near a major city with all that entails. Its not just one or the other. With quick access to downtown via the orange line and water taxi it will be easy to get to and from which is important and makes it more desirable as part of Boston overall. Its a pretty unique casino experience for New England and really almost anywhere. This makes it MUCH easier to not only get to the city from the casino, but to get to the casino from the city. Plus everybody has different likes. Im not a gambler, but to the tourists that are this is one more thing to enjoy during your stay.

They just said on the news now that theyre setting up park and rides to the north, south, east, and west, at parking lots that will bus people to and from the casino. Plus bus routes will go to the casino from mbta stations. So these along with the bridge to the orange line/assembly and water taxi to Rowes Wharf will actually cut down traffic a significant amount if people choose to use them. They are encouraging people to do so and the options are there so thats a good sign.

Permits are being filed for the pedestrian bridge, with a construction start of 2020 according to the Charlestown Patriot-Bridge. $32M estimate for a 12 foot x ~1000ft bridge

PS - First post after 2 years in purgatory feels pretty good!

Not sure how much of the design has changed, but this was the last presentation that I saw:

This feels like a huge win.

I don't know if the importance of this has gotten overblown in my mind, but whenever you can more directly connect so many resources together (parks, riverwalks, people, transit, entertainment, shopping) with a high quality and convenient walking and biking connection I feel like this really opens up some possibilities for the immediate area and makes another critical bike route connection.

Like most infrastructure projects around here I wish we could figure out faster and more economical ways to get it done so we could do more, but I'll take the win.

Good sign that eventually it should work out... just there does seem to be a big potential for major bottlenecks the first few weeks until people figure out when and where they should and should not try to go.

Water taxis have a limited capacity (Anyone know what their service rate per hour is?), but it is good that they can avoid the traffic altogether. While shuttle buses will get stuck in the same traffic as cars unless they get a dedicated lane during certain hours.

Really wish they had started that pedestrian bridge to and from Assembly a year and half ago. Unless they have dedicated bus lanes I think walking a mile and a half from the satellite or MBTA parking lots is going to end up being the best bet during peak hours the first couple weekends.

Guaranteed that DCR is a huge pain in the ass on this, because that's what they do. But eventually it will be built.

Why hasn't the city or state proposed an upgraded infrastructure in the first place for these areas. If the economy is booming why are the cities and state waiting?

Define "upgraded infrastructure," and define "these areas." There have been multiple studies at the city and state levels with regard to transportation in the immediate vicinity of the casino, including redesign of Sullivan Square. Encore will be providing water taxi service and shuttle buses, and new Orange Line cars will be coming online at some point this year. Granted, I don't think these solutions are the end of the conversation, but I'm not entirely sure what you're asking for.

“There are 15 bars and restaurants opening at Encore Boston Harbor next month.”

“documents filed by Wynn Resorts with the state’s gaming commission on Monday show a complete list of the 15 bars and restaurants that are planning to open in the Encore Boston Harbor casino in Everett.”

“The list includes a steakhouse, two Italian restaurants, a craft beer garden, a sports bar, a nightclub, a Vegas-style buffet, and — of course — a Dunkin’.”

The buffet is going to be nuts. The one in Vegas is out of control. Its like every gourmet food ever made in there. I remember having duck, sushi, crab legs, cheese cake, steak... literally everything all at the same time lol. I definitely will be checking this out.

There is only one entrance to the Encore casino in and out from 99 for ground transit.

You would think their would be requirements for a 2.5 Billion dollar casino development to be required to build its own off ramp from the highway at least.

Relatively speaking this pedestrian/bike bridge is moving at hypersonic speeds relative to most other bike/pedestrian projects... usually it would be another ten years even if there was buy-in from everyone and when it open in a couple years it will be hugely popular I expect.

Where do you propose this off ramp be built? Whose land will be taken for it? And why do you want to encourage auto traffic instead of focusing on other means of transport to and from the casino?

So true! How long have we been waiting for South Bank Bridge?
