Faneuil Hall/Quincy Market

So I finally made it down to the refurbished Faneuil Hall. It is a lot more bright, open and spacious inside and... I don't like it?

Maybe I'm weird but I think Faneuil Hall should feel kind of dark, cramped, crowded and claustrophobic.

Just me?

Are you talking about the market and visitor center level, or the meeting hall upstairs?

The Market (which is now about half visitor center if you include the staircase). The Basement level is just dull and as far as I know they didn't touch the Hall.

The basement is just a small meeting room (perhaps for park rangers giving talks before tours) and restrooms (very welcome). I don't know what was there before, as I don't recall any public access to this level in the past.

I'm glad Red Barn coffee is back. Two things I remember from before that are no longer present: a US Post Office counter, and a newsstand selling newspapers and magazines from all over the world.

I thought there was a small gift shop on the lower level before. I could be mistaken though.

There was - got a great 'birdseye view of Boston from the 1800s' print there once.
