Been meaning to post these photos from this Spring and early Summer for a while now. If you're not familiar with it, Lawrence is an old mill city about 30 miles north of Boston right off 93 on the Merrimack River. Boasting 80,000 people in 7 square-miles, Lawrence is one of the densest places in Mass. One of the 11 original Gateway Cities, Lawrence wrestles with disinvestment, aging infrastrucure, and a high poverty rate. Approximately 80 percent of the population is of hispanic descent.

These photos are limited to the Downtown and mill areas. After visiting several years ago, I was impressed by the renewed investment in many of the mills. The Downtown is a short walk fro. The millyard areas and has more challenges, though there are some new buildings under construction.
