Re: Davis Square Development

At some point the forum could use a caricature artist to illustrate the personas. Everyones' caricatured personality drawn from their postings could prove quite amusing. Not to mention profitable for the continued hosting fund once propagated to cafe press materials.

Honestly, who wouldn't want to own an official ArchBoston edition Ron Newman mug?

Ron is a NIMBY.

I'm not sure what you mean here. Do you mean to imply that I oppose development projects that would cast shadows upon or obstruct views from my backyard? Because in that case, I certainly don't deserve to be called a "NIMBY". My building doesn't have a backyard. ;)

But we're veering off-topic, everyone. Let's get back to the discussion of "Davis Square Development".

Re: Davis Square Development

Seriously people, how old are we? Can we just treat Ron with some respect?

Ron is not from within the "architectural ring." He's often out of touch with the lingo and principles, which is completely fine. He's here to learn, ask questions, and share his thoughts. He's almost the voice of the general public on this forum and it's rather refreshing.

Re: Davis Square Development

We are acting our age; Ron said Davis should stay the way it is and doesn't want anything new coming in. That's a NIMBY. I think maybe you need to grow up and acknowledge this.

Re: Davis Square Development

Thats not what he said at all. He comments were basically to the tune of "I'm glad they're building something over a gas station, but I wish they didn't have to tear down existing businesses to do it."

If he didn't want Davis to change, he'd be defending the existing gas station, wouldn't he? I know I'm new here, but whats with all the personal attacks? They seem to be in every single thread where people disagree on anything.

Welcome to ArchBoston. You get used to it after a while.

Re: Davis Square Development

ArchBoston is far more civil than any other message board I've ever been to. A little verbal jousting hasn't really hurt anyone.

Re: Davis Square Development

I don't especially mind being called a 'NIMBY', I just don't think it's correct. I like having new businesses and buildings added to my neighborhood. I just don't want useful things removed from it.

Ron didn't write that at all.

Further, there is absolutely nothing in his original post that necessitated that personal attack.

Perhaps it is YOU who should grow up........

.....after taking a remedial reading comprehension class.

I've lurked here for years before registering several months back and I can attest that I have learned much from Ron Newman's posts and updates. He is an attribute to this forum.

Regarding your posts, I can't remember one thing of interest I have ever learned from your contributions. They are graffiti.

We should have a get together, but next time we should wear nametags with our archboston names and refer to each other that way...just like a star trek convention!
