I am always amused by how quiet this forum is on days when people typically aren't working.
It's not my fault that this forum just happens to look very "work related"

Has the Westbrook project ended yet? Still no sign of life in Congress Sq.I'm sure they'll pivot back to Congress Square as the Westbrook project wraps.
The existing intersection is so horrible from a pedestrian perspective.Looks like potentially an extension to the curbing and 2 crosswalks being added (Danforth and Pleasant) in Gorham's Corner in front of the John Ford monument.

Guessing from the cones and the painted outline, it could create a nice park-like setting, in addition to some traffic calming/pedestrian safety.

Part of the problem is that this is basically a highway incoming from the bridge. But it the danger to pedestrians isn't going to get lower once the 230 odd units at Mercy are fully occupied and those people start walking to the Old Port. Here's the scoop - with more people living in the Art's District and walking to/from the Old Port, and more destinations drawing people from the Old Port to the Art's District, it's traffic calming before a pedestrian gets hit in this horrible intersection. The catch is that it's in a trial period for the summer to see how the traffic flows.
Where there would potentially be permanent side walk extensions to shorten the distance of the crosswalks, there will be murals painted on the existing street surrounded by temporary pylons to change driver behavior. The city will be looking for feedback, so hopefully anyone here who values the culture of a walkable city over more traffic will provide a favorable review to the city. You know who they will hear from - the distracted, aggressive drivers that didn't want to stop in the first place. There will be some sharp turns, and potentially the intersection will be tested with blinking red lights in all directions. That should make the guy in the pickup truck who almost hit the person in the crosswalk today happy, he'll be the one complaining to the city.

Some comments that should be on this thread are now visible on the Mercy Hospital thread as well. The Aucosisco (201Federal Street) thread now says "not open for further replies". Could one of our helpful Moderators look into why? Thanks!
Crazy this still hasn't started up again - at this rate, this is a 10 year project.Has the Westbrook project ended yet? Still no sign of life in Congress Sq.
I assume at this point there is a payment dispute between the city and the contractor.Crazy this still hasn't started up again - at this rate, this is a 10 year project.

Work won’t resume on Congress Square redesign until next year
The timeline for the redesign of the park and nearby intersection is unclear as the project has been held up by delays and challenges since work started in the spring of 2022.www.pressherald.com
I'll be surprised if Gordan Contracting ever wins a bid around here ever again.
Asked for an update on the project and its timeline Friday, Gordon Contracting President Brian Howard said in an email, “It’s in legal and I’m not at liberty to disclose until the paperwork is finalized.”
Been in that building. Would be a gorgeous new facade.Came across this image while browsing commercial real estate listings. Looks like the owners of 509 Forest Ave are planning to renovate the existing (and ugly) facade of the building.
