Safety concerns with the intersection of Flagg and Salisbury streets are prompting local officials to consider improvements that could include the construction of a roundabout.

The intersection has several safety concerns that include "limited sight distance and the speed of traffic on Salisbury Street," according to a memo from City Manager Eric D. Batista, which causes delays for drivers trying to turn from Flagg Street during peak times.

Rotary on that intersection makes some sense. It's also a nightmarish intersection to get across as a pedestrian.

Too much volume for stop signs and I think neighbors would go crazy with traffic idling all day with traffic lights and honking to go on green.

Do Brittan Square (Burncoat branching off Lincoln Streets) next. There are a ton of these weird intersections in the city

Where Franklin St branches off to Wall st could also use some work

Really scary as that's the primary garage for the Hanover Theatre. I bet that's not the only garage in the city with those issues - parked in the old Outlets garage across from St. Vincent's for a DCU Center event, and that stairwell was s-k-e-t-c-h-y.

Massport said the solar field will be built on 44 acres on the Leicester side of the airport, which they said is far away from airplane operations.

The new solar field is expected to generate an estimated 22.3M kw hours annually, which Massport said is roughly equivalent to their overall electricity use, excluding tenant usage.

In 2022, the bridge was one of seven in Worcester and one of 102 bridges across Central Massachusetts, listed as being "structurally deficient" in a report by the Massachusetts Budget & Policy Center.
The proposed work will "match the existing geometry of the freeway both horizontally and vertically without creating a larger footprint," a statement by MassDOT says.

Telegram is paywalled. Is that the bridge over MLK Jr Blvd downtown? Reduced lanes should make the terrible rush hour traffic even worse for the duration. Especially westbound in the evening.

I believe it's the one going over Lincoln St at the Nativity School

It’s MLK where Mescal is now. The Lincoln Street bridge looks frightening underneath as well.
They have been working on the I-290 bridge over North Lincoln Street (at Hanover Insurance) for close to 2 years now.

The only bridge on MLK is the rail bridge built in the last 30 or so years?

The feasibility study will be conducted over the course of the next two to three years, after which the district will make a determination on whether to construct an entirely new school building or renovate the existing building. The city and the Massachusetts School Building Authority would still need to approve the funding for any proposed school construction project. The entire construction process is expected to take five to seven years.
Worcester has been proposing to replace or renovate Burncoat High since 2008, but was consistently turned down by the Massachusetts School Building Authority, which controls public school construction in Massachusetts. The project was accepted into the authority's "pipeline," the process the MSBA uses to monitor school construction plans, last year.
The current Burncoat High was constructed in 1964, making it the oldest major high school in the city. The current Worcester Technical High School was built in 2006, followed by North High in 2011, South High Community School in 2021 and Doherty Memorial High in 2024.
