Love this for the ladder streets. And to be clear this is the full time parking lot, not the one Brattle Bookstore uses for overflow space on nice days. Shocked this isn’t permitted by right, but other than maybe shadow issues on the common I don’t see a lot of objections here. Cool project.

Looking good

Possible Lobby?

The hotel development proposal is "17-23 West Street," not, "17-25 West Street," so, no.

(You can see from all the project renderings that 25 West is absolutely not part of the proposal.)

That said, I highly doubt this proposal is even still active. If you look at that project page linked to above, the last activity was.... 14 months ago... when there was a public meeting. Crickets since. Time is money, and I have to think, if this developer was truly committed to pushing this forward, there would've been... something... in the past 14 months, indicating forward momentum.

Yes! Building on this useless surface lot.
I believe the lot is where the previous Brattle Book Shop existed before it burned down and then reappeared two doors down, where it enjoys it's historic influence in Boston. I wonder if the owner of Brattle Books retained the deed to the land in question and leased it for parking. Any evidence of who was behind this sale and the value of the lot?.

Research is your friend:

17 West St. parcel, registered owner: Paul Roiff (also note it shows all of the parcel's assessed values going back 40 years)

9 West St. (Brattle Book Shop) parcel, registered owner: Ken Gloss

Ken Gloss [does not equal] Paul Roiff...
