“The Procopio Companies has acquired 179-189 & 193-197 Nantasket Avenue in Hull for $6,000,000. In March, the developer won approval for a mixed-use project on the site. Plans include 132 residential units and 9,300 square feet of retail space. Designed with a multifamily component, a retail component, and a large-scale food and beverage operation, this project will serve as a catalyst for placemaking on Nantasket Beach.”

Given that 85% of Hull is already underwater whenever it rains for more than 20 minutes at a time, this project is remarkably optimistic/bold.

It’s no more underwater than anywhere else in eastern Mass…imo Hull is drastically underrated. Place could be so much better.

Hull is awesome. Very cool and, while I don't know about underrated, certainly less trafficked than some other beach/waterfront destinations (which suits me just fine).

It is also very much more underwater than "most places in eastern mass": from 2018 (yes, more homes in Quincy are at risk than in Hull, but Quincy is about 6x the size of Hull -- compare the percentages: 13% to 3%).

Grew up going there and I seriously considered buying in Hull just a few years ago, but other than the area around Allerton Hill most of the town floods often -- and more often every year.

Accessible beach, excellent swimming, good people watching, decent food, beer, ice cream, art deco bathhouse, carousel, and further in, lots of character and history in the neighborhoods. I can't really think of what else I'd like to see there, criticisms of that condo block proposal aside. Wollaston Beach on the other hand, oh man, where to begin?

Wollaston beach would be great if sewage didn’t get dumped into the bay after every rain storm.

Back to hull tho…allerton hill is cool but it’s too far in. As soon as traction starts for thoughtful development of the HRA land it’s game over. The hull ferry should be moved as well…behind red sky maybe.

Kind of off topic, but Hull has their Pride celebration on June 1st.

It's ALWAYS an awesome time, and you can check out all Hull has to offer too! My personal favorite is the Parrot Restaurant.

"modern" - 80's Florida aesthetic haha
"below grade" - partially sunk slab with blank ground floor.

I get that this is Hull and the building will take an absolute beating from the ocean, but WOOF!

What does WOOF mean in this context?
