Boston's First Lighting Festival!

A five-day citywide festival showcasing ten sites that will be illuminated for the duration of the event: Custom House; Flour and Grain Exchange; Rowes Wharf; Northern Avenue Bridge; Moakley Bridge; Congress Street Bridge; Summer Street Bridge; South Station and nearby T headhouses; Legal Seafood Building; and 175 Federal Street.

illuminaleBOSTOSTON is a volunteer effort of 35 plus lighting designers, led by Festival Founder, Lana Nathe, of Light Insight Design Studio, to create innovative and energy--efficient temporary lighting schemes for landmarks around Boston's Financial and Waterfront districts, which surround the new Rose Kennedy Greenway.

Switching On illuminaleBOSTON Ceromony
6:30 p.m. Route Starts at the Custom House

Wednesday, October 1st through Sunday, October 5,2008:
Festival illumination from 6:00 p.m. - 11:00 p.m.

Why only buildings on or near the waterfront? Why not the Boston Public Library, Trinity Church, the Park Plaza Castle, Old South Meeting House, Old City Hall, (New) City Hall, Park Street Church, the Hatch Shell, the Longfellow Bridge, Cathedral of the Holy Cross, the new mosque in Roxbury, the MFA (at least the one intact side facing the Fenway?

I just got back from walking and photographing this. It was an enjoyable time. Every passerby stopped in their tracks to take in all the lights at every spot.

^Those are so cool! I'm going tonite ,Was down in Quincy last nite,notice the Custom House and was able to snap a few pix's,have'nt quite figure out takeing nite shots,some are ok,Thanks again the city looks great!
