L Street Station Redevelopment (née Old Edison Plant)| 776 Summer Street | South Boston

That sounds pretty serious. 100 firefighters, 3 hours, and a surgeon on site to amputate a leg...

Seeming like an increase in serious worker accidents in the past 1-2 years

Yeah. First the BU data science center, then gov center garage, now this.

I think its just the shear number of construction projects going on in the area. Statistically I bet the numbers are on par with averages. Being in construction is more dangerous than being a cop for instance, by a fairly wide margin I'm pretty sure

Looks like thankfully they got the worker out, without amputation:

To the surprise of no one, they start with a big lab building.

The powerplant is more tall, interesting, and inspiring than its replacement. I'll be sad to see it go, just from a visual landmark perspective.

I posted the part of the building that actual people see, not the part that drones see.

You don't judge a giant structure by what it looks like from 3 feet away. Are you somehow insinuating that nobody would see the powerplant until they were literally right next to it? That's not how area-dominant buildings work.

It is a bummer they aren't preserving *any* of the smoke stacks. While I'm sure it would have been more structurally challenging, it would have been a nice nod to the plant's history to have preserved the older, yellow-brick smoke stack.
