Thanks to tax credit transparency reports released by the state, it's possible to see which cities in Massachusetts benefit most from the Historic Rehabilitation Tax Credit program, which is capped at $50 million each year. These are the totals for 2011 and 2012

.) Boston $19.7 million
.) Springfield - I stopped counting at $7.4 million distributed mostly in $50K increments in a single year, but its probably about double that. Much of this related to tornado recovery.
.) Lowell $11.6 million
.) Lawrence $6.15 million
.) Fitchburg $4.6 million
.) Holyoke $3.9 million
.) Worcester $3.6 million
.) Waltham $3.3 million
.) Brockton $3.1 million
.) New Bedford $2.95 million
.) Gardner $2.4 million
.) Cambridge $2.35 million
