The glass is a lot darker then the rendering proposes, I'd like to see it lit up at dusk, I think it would be quite nice.

The random window placement derives from Stirling's Sakler Museum and Kahn's Gallery of British Art. It's less sucessful here than its predecessors.

Staff scheduled to move into new wing this November, the galleries to open one year later.

Photos of the Art of the Americas Wing at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston along with photos of the Evans Wing ... and the baby heads, of course.

Great pics! Thanks! Addition is hideous. Are architects even trying anymore? It looks like 3 modular pieces were flown in by chopper and clumsily plopped down next to a neoclassical building. Totally without planning or thought. What a mistake.

I am losing hope for Boston. These new projects are one giant concrete fail after another.

They'll be trying to tear this thing down thirty years from now.

Personally, I love it. Its brutal, bold, and mysterious.

I really like it, though it is far from their best work. You can tell they were careful not to clash with the original building too much and I think that was a wise choice. I'll wait to see the inside.

Why does every building have to have part of it look like an Apple store now? The late 2000s will be known as the era of the glass cube.

Why don't architects do anything classical anymore? There is such an emphasis on being "modern" and "clever" that I don't understand. Did the 1960s and 1970s teach us nothing?

It says "public storage space" more than it says "fine arts museum"

They blew it. Plain and simple.

^^ Good call!

Come see the new MFA & U-Stor-It facility!

Before you guys submit to a complete verdict, wait until it actually opens to eh public next year. I took the Build Boston tour last week, and it's beautiful inside and has some incredible details, you have to see in person to appreciate.

Did the 1960s and 1970s teach us nothing?

You do know many brutalist and International Style buildings were highly informed by a recognizably classicist monumentality, right?

I work in Longwood and take the shuttle bus by the MFA twice a day... and I can assure you, it is as ugly in person as it is in these pictures.

The inside might be amazing, but the outside is a major, MAJOR disappointment.

The new signage they have put up around the building is nice though :)

Hmm, I guess I forgot to post these. They date to 10/26:
