Much of the main entrance is blocked off due to coming bridge construction.

MGH just cut down every single tree on their side of Blossom Street. I’m not aware of any justification for this other than the fact that they have a little bit of scaffolding against the Thier Building. Incredibly disappointing. Does anyone have any information about why this would have happened?

August 2024 Google streetview shows all the trees to be dead or in poor condition. Tree boxes are small, sidewalk is rather narrow. Maybe permeable pavement would allow trees to survive.

oof, they look awful. well, I guess that's at least less nefarious than I thought. But I hope they replace them. Notable is the fact that the trees at Blossom/Cambridge are flourishing, but also in tiny tree boxes. Maybe better light, unclear. https://www.google.com/maps/@42.361...try=ttu&g_ep=EgoyMDI1MDUxNS4xIKXMDSoASAFQAw==

The trees directly across the street look fine. However, these are planted outside of the sidewalk itself.

The tree boxes for the trees at Blossom and Cambridge are larger, and feature a metal grate, allowing much more rainwater / snowmelt to reach the roots.

The ones across the street are honey locust I think. The ones that were cut down were linden. Might make a difference.
