I'm not sure I've seen the horizontally-progressing cladding before on a building of this size.
 
So I had heard that renovation/repurposing of the ground level of the First Street Garage (across from this parcel) was a public benefit obligation that this developer has as part of the approvals for the jail/courthouse tower project. Yet I hadn't seen anything further about it for years since this was first approved.

I just now noticed this project page on the Graffitto site (images courtesy of / linked from within the link at left):

Looks like they're building a small public market on the Garage's ground level. Can't complain about the concept, though there's a lot of retail vacancy on First Street right now...I hope a bigger-picture turnaround (including this project) is on its way for the area.
